using 44t and 41t spur gear with 13/16 clutch bell, is that a good combo, if not was would be the best ? what can i do to keep from stripping teeth? should there be any play in spur gears and clutch bell? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. new to r/c.

Looks like you are using the stock gear ratios. They should be fine as a starting point. To the gear mesh is set properly run a peice of paper through the gears while pressing the engine to keep the gear mesh as possible. Tighten the engine mount screws then remove the paper from between the gears. This should give you the proper gear mesh. Also make sure that the engine is not twisted making the mesh looser on either of the gears.
