Wayne,

You have ti understand, Yang likes to hit stuff, so that is not so surprising that he broke the car. I have not had a chance to put mine onthe track since I converted it. I had to pull an all nighter at work this past weekend and it was not fun, 34 hours straight moving our server room. Plans are for me to get it on the track this weekend and get some time with the car. I can't wait.

thanks j, but you were not there for me to hit. so did not hit too much

take the setup that you drove and move the batts full forward. the car still transitions quick, but was not as twitch.

Oh Yeah, GET TO WORK!!!

no, it was just me and paul, so we ran a few packs before the racing started. I ended up running stock tc with an old FK. Dumas, quincy, tye and rocco were all running mod with their new fk05. the car will take a couple of weeks for quincy's to look like his FK on the track.

Fatdoggy...
I believe he ran Assoc. gold springs, if you measure them they are .042" to .043" wire diameter. I used Wolf Black springs, which are a bit heavier. If you set yours up like this, make sure there is travel in both directions of the shock. Don't let the piston bottom out. Use RPM ball cups, they're the perfect length!!

Yes sir, it was the Gold springs. I found the Wolfe web site, but don't see any black listed, except for the "standard" springs which look to be for touring cars? It looks like the ones at the very bottom are for VCS shock?:

You must have died them so no one knows what weight they are

Seriously, I was pleased with the 3 shock setup. Is the setup better? Time will tell, but on that day and traction conditions, it was. Not often I make one change and gain 3 or 4 tenths a lap. I like how it responded, but the change added so much more steering that it could mean it's hard to setup or get to work in some conditions.

take care

Thanks. Also just drill the holes slightly larger on the chassis brace(holes closest in?) and top pod plate.. Can you use the rear holes on the top pod plate or to you have to use the front holes?

I used the front holes on the top plate and inner holes on the cross brace and tapped them for 4-40. That way I can still used the rear holes on the top plate and middle on the cross brace for the damper tube setup since they use a 2-56 ball stud.

take care

JohnB - I have two top plates for the tubes. If I used the rear holes on one of them, do you think the side shocks would hit the screws that connects the crossbrace with the standoff? Or would it clear them? I'd check myself but I'm at college right now.

Thanks.

Sorry disregard this question, brain freeze.. you could just space the ball stud up a little.

I'm at work also and can't look at my car, but I think that is how Wayne mounted his, in the rear holes. As long as you put the adjustment nut up, it should clear. Wayned said he had to trim the just a tick off the cup where the two come together. I used HPI Pro4 ball cups on mine and there a bunch room, even in the middle. They looked to be the same length as the RPM ball cups, but I had a shock piston break on my first run, so I will probably unscrew them a turn or two for more length.

Thinking about that now, it would be possible to turn the tweak screws down a turn or two if you wanted to limit the maximum roll a little without adjusting the shock length. Man this setup just keep opening up more options!!!! AND MORE STEERING!!!!!

take care
john

Fatdoggy,
Shim the ball stud up 2 washers on the cross brace. The RPM cups are perfect length. Set the spring collar right to the end of the shock body. Caliper each shock and adj. ball cups so they are equal length, then snap them on!! I took my tweek screws all the way out. It doesn't take much to adj. the tweek, it's very sensitive.
