as long as you do not leave them on the tray too long. the 0-30 takes cells down to 0v. and the ibs do not like 0v for extended time. as soon as the lights go out, i would pull the pack. you can use it just before charging.

Thanks. Now at this time I do not have an equalizer...is it necessary to equalize them? What is the best way to maintain these batteries?

it is a good idea to equalize battery from the start. it is a good habit to get into. promatch now sells the tekin equalizing trays. i just picked up 2, but Jeff R. says they are the bomb

Not sure how but I guess it could be.I just use the 0-30 till the lights go out then go straight to the charger, quick and easy,no muss no fuss,I like simple.I'm getting great performance out of my 3800's with just the 0-30.

Hi Chris,

Here's your PM (Public Message): Yes it's cool...the temperature gauge in my Benz said it was 45 degrees this morning. Pretty cool huh?

Jay, I'll find a spare as soon as possible.

That's what I have been doing, lights get dim or go out and I pull the pack and use the Tekin tray. Great product!!

I don't really see a need to go to the Tekin tray after you've pulled the pack off the 0-30 it's ready to charge at that point!

the 0-30 is a discharge tray, it just brings the cells down at 30 amps. the Tekin tray is an equalizing tray. it helps equalize the cells.

one thing to be concerned about the indi tray is that there is a 0v cut off. that is ok if you go straight to the charger, but i would not recommend that cells be stored that way. so if you are discharging after a race, pull the pack when the lights go out, or you will be storing the cell at too low a voltage. And really it just prevents cell reversal, it does not cut off after the cells are at 0v. the 0-30 will hold the cells at zero.

This is where there is some misinformation, the 0-30 is also a EQ tray not just a discharge tray,it brings the cells down individially, thus equally at 30 amps it will be at about .07 when the lights go out, which is why it's safe to use in this manner. If you leave the batteries on it for an extended amount of time(not recommended for any tray) it will go to "0",again "not recommened".

How is the 030 an EQ tray, when the 1st light goes out, that cell is at 0.9v...the others lights are still on, hence >0.9v

When they all go out, the first cell is way past 0.9v, so they are not Eq'd.

With the tekin, and others, it holds a cell at a voltage, the 030 can only do that at 0v.

Brit,

I'll give you that, but honestly so far on all of my packs,at least my pro-match packs the lights all go out at the same time. Now I assume it's due to the great matching done by pro-match,which is one of the reason's I've been running their stuff for eight years now.My question then, is how long does it take to get the packs ready to charge from say a half charge with the tekin tray? I don't race every weekend so I leave a half charge in my packs for storage.I've got a pro-match smart tray, will this eq my cells the same as the Tekin?

I just received my new packs from ProMatch. As usual, great numbers and great service.

Thanks
