Josh

are you cutting out every other tooth on your belts on the Xray FK
or are you cutting down the teeth on the gears they ride on I heard about this from a friend but have not read anything about it anywhere.

thanks

Now that sounds like a fun thing to do to your drivetrain.

prodrive - Granted that I race for SMC but I must say that I am extremely impressed with the quality of batteries that SMC sends us to race with and sells in the hobby shops. I have no complaints and I think SMC is one of if not the best in the business....

Taz - lol... I totally screwed up on that one....lol... How can you forget to pack tools?!?!?!

Rodney - I NEVER cut the teeth off the belts. I did cut every other tooth off of the front pulley (tried it in the rear but it destroyed 2 rear belts). I didn't notice a difference though.....

Darryl - Anything for that extra .001 per lap!!!

JDXray - Umm, nope.... I've only run with the Factory Kit...

Default Your Setups

Hi Josh,

I just almost finish building the T1FK and now looking for some setups tips to run the car for the first time.

Looking at some setups you posted on your cefx website, I notice the following points (aspalts only),

Front RC is always the same which is in the middle hole so no kickup.
Rear RC, still no kickup, always on the highest but all with no front one way.
Damper all 4 holes open with 30Asc oil on the rear.
Rear/fr hubs with added spacers.

The question is,
Why no front one way on aspalt but seems your setups (0 caster, forward batteries position, rear stabilizer, etc) are looking for front traction? In contrary, if you looking for more front tracktion, why rear RC at its highest point (becuase to my knowledge is more tracktion with higher RC generates by lifting the lower arm)?
Last but not least, using spacers on top of knuckles (upper link angled down inside), could you explain what you are looking for related to the rest of those your setup points.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Josh,

forgot one more thing.. Ackerman,

Isn`t postition 1 and 1 will provide more linier turning as it has less (or actually none?) ackerman angle between inner and outside tires? Why most factory drivers seems to favor no 2 on knuckles? Thanks again

i was running with scott earnest the other day and he mentioned something about soaking both belts in WD40 to smoothen out the drivetrain. have you tried this? what effects could it do to my belt (would it deteriorate faster, would it attract dirt faster)?

Josh,

The Xray is just handling killer. I am a little hurt by running old small tires-but hey its club racing right?

Anyways-I am hoping you can help me with uptravel measurments. By my method of using a ride height gauge under the chassis and raising the chassi and holding down the tires nets me about 0.5mm up travel front and about 1mm rear. Chicky measures it his way and comes up with 2mm front and 2.5mm rear uptravel.
Its all reltive for me-but for the sake of comparig set-ups with local buddies-whats your method?

Thanks and amazing qualifying at GLC with one run!!

Ray
