Now this is a mature and commercial reaction. Thumbs up Dan.

wow.. no equalizing huh mike. im gonna have to try that. im "using" my cells as much as you are.. and im starting to see a slight drop. then again. im charging at 6amps. gonna have to see if not equalizing them will help prolong the life of the batteries. either way. they're still awesome batteries.

keep up the good work dan. your batteries got me bumped up!

Don't get me wrong, every battery drops off run time. The main point is when a cell dies after 6 months there is something wrong with the way it's handled.

I should be more specific. Equalizing trays that cut off at too low a cut off are damaging. Even Sanyo states cells should not be discharged to the point of zero voltage.
Like I said, just throwing out some input from my experience- no one has to follow it

It would seem that not traying your cells that over time they are going to become very unbalanced because of slight differences in IR. It would seem the pack would deteriorate more quickly because some cells would be getting overcharged, while others undercharged.

I think what Mike is talking about are all the trays out there that take the cells to 0v. By equalizing @ .9v per cell, you are leavng some charge in them. But you're leaving equal charge in them. Not equalizing the packs is better for them than equalizing them with a tray that's going to drop them down to 0v.

Hello guys, just to let you know there is a new batch of Fukuyama cells in the UK
Now before you all go asking for 1.17's they've all been pre-ordered, but there may be some available in a few days.
We have lots of 1.15's at a good price and are willing to do deals for large orders of them. These cells are great for practise packs and even club level racing.

Whats the average time it takes you guys to charge your Fukuyama's?

I'll be charging a 6pack at 4.5 amps and 50mv. What charging time would you guess for that ?

The reason I ask is cause i want to know if my charger false peaks or not.

thanks

Usually it takes about 35 to 45 minutes. The best way to know if you're false peaking is look at the capacity (mah) that the battery has taken. You should be getting at least 3300 to 3500 mah. I've seen them charge as high as 3800 mah without getting too hot.

My first charger on the FUKUYAMA cells went up to 3999 and 4033 respectively. Charging at 6amp and peak voltage at 8.99v and 9.03v. Just some input ...

But if charging at 4.5 amp, it would take more then 30 mins to charge more then 3300mah.

That's pretty common when the cells are brand new. You just want to watch the temp on the first few charges because the voltage may not drop as much and over charge your cells. Just make sure they don't get above 150F. IMO that's even pushing it. Those are good voltage numbers. That's right about where you want them to peak at.

But i have a habit of stoping the charge at 3500 mah or voltage at 8.95 which ever comes first. Found out that my previous match cells have a better consistent number when i did that. Thinking of doing the same thing to my FUKUYAMA cells ...

WHat do you guys think?

Hot warm are the pack when they get to that point? I know some chargers are reading temp instead of voltage drop (ex Yokomo) So that may be an option as long as they're getting warm enough.
