Be done with the problem and get a longer differental screw to make building/maintenance easier, order P/N 91251A109 from Mc Master Carr (www.mcmaster.com).
$3.94 for 25 ea. Cap Screws, 2-56 x 1", black oxide, alloy steel.

I remember with the old tc3 the spring needed a LOT of compressing with pliers before you put it in and tightened everything up. Maybe they still use the same spring
The longer bolt will make things easier but there shouldn't be any need to get them.
