I know the majority of people here are running crc pan cars in wgt but I'm looking to run mine in a more casual manner- 2S and maybe 13.5 or 10.5T just for kicks on asphalt. Before investing in a motor, I'm just curious if anyone has experience running a gen x 10 in similar conditions. Am I asking too much from my wgt chassis and suspension?

Pan cars with foam tires don't typically work well on unprepared surfaces. The dust really accumulates on the tires making it difficult to keep under control. On the other hand, the new CRC rubber tires might work better.

Hey swerv, I'd like to know what you end up purchasing, and how it works out for you. I have a 235mm pan car and it gets pretty crazy on unprepared asphalt. I'm just running a mild mod brushed motor.

Will do. I have a genX 10 SE but still scratching my head on what turn motor. Available traction will likely be the limiting factor. We usually blow and spray where I'm at. Thinking about a fresh set of Jaco pinks and see what happens next...

Gen X10 have a big TC shock. LE and SE need to upgrade. Slider pod can resist MOD motors like 4.5T (need to do motor plate in aluminium)

Some of the guy's at the Pro 235 thread suggested running 17.5 or bigger. One guy even suggested 21.5. It's hard for me to imagine a 4.5. Also, I found that pinks on the rear and blacks on the front worked out for me. Keep in mind I have been tooling around in unprepared parking lots and not using the sauce. I don't like the smell and didn't want to spend the money on that while not in competition. If or when I compete I won't mind the smell.

There are tire conditioners that don't smell so you might want to pick up some STX 3 or trinity white or black dot. Your tires will thank you. In the old days we would rub copper tone tan lotion into the tires about an hour before running.

Thanks, I'll try the STX or Trinity but not the Coppertone, I don't like the smell of that either. By the way, do any of these work on rubber as well.

Yes, they are all good for rubber too. Which one depends on conditions. You can also use wd40 but it needs some time to soak in.

turns out a lot of my tweak came from bad side springs, which blew my mind. but my height was also off which i addressed and it helped. last thing i want to do is add some washers up front to gain a tad bit more steering. a lot of what you guys mentioned did help. but i think i might have a tweaked chassis overall, i can either get the front untweaked and the rear will be tweaked and vice versa...so i just address tweak (lifting of left inside) with it on the track

edit:

went to run the car after i felt that i got it squared away sunday, at last night's club race....tweaked to all hell. i'm about to pull the entire car apart and try to rebuild it. notably...the car seemed to drive GREAT without any COMPOUND setup on the tires at all. i will try that again, but right now i'm a little frustrated.

Absolutely completely new to pan car, so go easy... Looking at tires, there's so many to choose from. In TC, I just run the softest I can go with attention to wear. Now, I'm gonna have to start with different tires front versus rear. I can find Jaco and BSR but can someone offer a starting point for asphalt low to medium grip? Are spec tires ok for asphalt? It seems like so much information about pan cars is dedicated to carpet not asphalt racing. Thanks.

All we run is spec WGT tires on both asphalt and carpet. They work fine. Coppertone 40 works fine- just let it soak in and rubber off the excess.Also Trinity white or purple and sometimes yellow dot. Or sometimes you just need to clean the tires with Goop.It just depends on the track. (17.5, 1 cell only here in Florida).
