Good news. the box of bits from the US arrived.

Not only did I get the brand new 30 year old OPS, I also got in the engine box:

1 new crankshaft, 2 yes two P&Liner sets, 1 new con rod and 1 new exhaust adapter (I didn't have a clue where I would get the exhaust adapter, lol)



Just take a look at that 30 year old carb, lol



This is going to be the new shell, it's not an original (the original shells where solid white plastic that where painted on the outside) but as close as I'm going to get for now, It'll be painted the same as I had it all those years ago in "Janspeed" colours, Janspeed was an after market 1:1 car specialist, I like their colours back then, lol



Got the diff parts back from the anodisers, they did a super job matching the gold and yes I know the bearing holders where originally black but I wanted them blue (it's my car isn't it?), the rest of the diff parts where cleaned up.



Diff fitted with new spur gear, I don't know what material the brake disc is made from but it's still newish so I put it back in, the exhaust fitted with re-anodised black top and new 90deg nipple.




First fitting for the shell, looks well nice I think.

Oh dear, look at the bumpers. the back one is the wrong material too, should be white nylon as the front lol

This is how we fitted the front bumpers back then, fit the body and mark round it.

had a few problems fitting a new flywheel and clutch, this picture shows how big the old flywheel and clutch bell is compared to today's items



I'll have to refit the old flywheel and clutch bell.
I skimmed the flywheel and re-knurled the edge on the lathe



This is the original clutch set up,



I'll never find these shoes so I got a set of Traxxas ones, they needed modifying to fit but should work ok



So, engine fitted with cleaned up original clutch bell and I made a new Handel from silver steel



Nice new exhaust coupler




The next problem to sort out is the missing rear body posts, at some point this car was fitted with four lower radio mounting posts:



It should look like this with longer posts at the back to support the body:



One piece of 12mm nylon round bar,



Ten minutes on the lathe and we have new rear posts,
