Track testing show the cell rip? Well generally new cells feel a whole lot better than older packs. And the hype always goes a long way to making the cells faster
Actually when I ran the cells they already had about 15-20 cycles on them. We compared them to brand new IB4200's that were hand picked out of thousands of cells.

Orion is a big enough company that when they do back to back testing they can probably afford to test against brand new stuff.

So far no one has confirmed that Orion is indeed running their own factory. if they are not , then no doubt that the battery technology is already being shared with another brand.

All brands that have produced high voltage packs have had reliability problems. I cant see this being any different

It is amazing how fast heatshrink is.

That being the case, then wouldn't lipo being rated at 7.4 volts nominally be much more problematic then a 7.2 volt Nimh pack??

As a team driver I was told that these cells are not IB, EP, or GP.

clearly you have no idea how manufacturing works... a customer can have a manufacturer provide a propreitary product if they provide specs, designs, tooling costs, testing costs, setup costs, buy enough of them, etc...

this holds true for just about anything.

This is the intention of ORION.
To bring reliable, long lasting cells back in the industry.

Time will tell if they succeeded or not.
I will test these cells this weekend and will inform you guys.

I've been instructed to abuse them.. to see how much they can take!

I've seen them being tested, just didn't know what the light blue plastic wrap on
the battery meant. Now I understand better.

One of the Orion team drivers is in our club. He was last week driving a 4.0T with rip and
speed way beyond of what our car was making with a 3.5T. I thought I need to
switch to Orion motors but obviously the reason for the extra speed wasn't the motor.

Looking forward to trying them out in our car.

Clearly a newbie here.

Long lasting, reliable, cells equals lower profit turnover.
This is a buisness.
Planned obselessence seems to be the order of the day in this hobby as well.
Cant really blame them, WE keep buying the latest greatest.
Orion does and has always had a good reputation for quality though.
