Battery care: IB's vs GP's
Difference in care of these batteries. I have a Pitbull X3 charger and a Novak Smart Tray. I have IB 3800's and GP3300's. Should i get a 30 amp discharger to bring the cells down before I out them on the Smart Tray? Want to take care of my batteries the best I can. Thanks for any info!!

I just use a bulb discharger until the bulbs slightly dim and then through them onto the smart tray. Its super cheap and works great. SMC has some battery maintence tips on their site, just follow those and you'll be golden. Equalizing after every charge and making sure the batteries can cool fully between cycles seems to me to be the most important aspects of it all.

what you will want to do is to discharge at 20 amps nomore than that..you will read from big time batteries companies to discharge at 30 to 35 amps. All this will do is cook your cells.
discharge at 20 amps to .9v/per cell or 5.4v/ for 6 cell pack. Let pack cool down and then discharge at 2amps to .9v/cell or 5.4v/ for 6 cell pack..

There is a battery company just north of me and they are VERY knowledgeable and they will not bs you into the number games that the big time battery companies do...

GPs are tough cells.
I would watch the IBs for overheating and venting, they don't "like" extreme charge/discharge cycles, and overheat sometimes. Just watch them while charging and discharging.
