Hi,

I tested 4 packs of the IB4200 SHV this weekend and it was very impressive.
Runtime seemed to have no end. I discharged between 1300-2000 mAh after 5 minutes... in Modified. I ran a GM Brushless system and had for the very first time problems with a thermal shutdown. On the one hand this was because of the weather but the extremly high voltage of the new IB's was another reason for it.
The performance was really good. I didn't tested the capacity of the packs but I was able to charge up to 5000 mAh into the pack. This is absolutely amazing...

The batteries are so good everyone at the World's practice in Italy this weekend was melting speedcontrols, throwing winds (Brushed) or thermaling speed controls or fragmenting rotor (brushless).

A few cars melted speedos at the end of the straight and continued at full speed into the a wall

This year the worlds will be won by whoever can complete a 5 min run without frying their electronics...not the best driver or the fastest car.

What kind of motor setup is recommended to use with the new SHV batteries?

Echoing the question nnick had. It would be really good if you could post some info on what we should do differently with our motors.

Less timing?
Lower current brushes?
Softer springs?
Brush cuts?
Lower ratio? By how much?
Lower ESC brake settings?
Less aggressive ESC throttle settings?

However, factory drivers recieves cells 1,300v + though....

1.3 volts at 35 amps with a .09 cutoff? Somehow I find that very hard to believe I will ask Paul Lemieux this weekend what numbers he was running at the worlds

My freind bought 3 packs of Orion 4200shv's.

They seem impressive but the numbers are a little hard to compare because they are discharged at 30A.

There wasnt a great deal of difference between his SHV's and the normal cells, but there was a difference however small it was

Just keep in mind that SMC is one of only a few companies that show real numbers on their cells.

I would NOT agree with that. 99% of all companies out there show real numbers. They just use different systems to get the numbers. Orion's RDS system is a PROVEN system....Hell they just put more cars in the A main at the worlds than anyone!! Its just not the same as standard CE Equipment that SMC, Trinity, and others use. Reedy uses something along the same lines as the Orion system.

They are not faking any numbers....They are just being matched a different way and showing numbers a different way. Which in the real world can confuse a LOT of people but it doesnt mean they are lying about anything.
