another Q guys: i cant get my car to run quiet. I have replaced the bevel, one way and diff gears......still the same (noisy). Although back a few pages there were some guys saying that they could spin their drive train for 15sec with the wheels on, i can even get mine to spin for 3 seconds any ideas?
cheers

That's the problem i am having too.
But i am thinking grease is the main enemy of free-spin. Although grease is your friend when your gears have to perform under load.
My car is also noisy. My suspicion is that abrasion is happening between the shims and everything else. Since my bearings are all very free spinning, i am thinking the only thing that is moving and creating friction+noise must either be the bearing housings, or the shims they are attached to.
That's my 2 cents anyways.

A other driver means it is possible to make the upright work again, but i havenīt it tested yet.
the upright deforms so (in most cases that the ouhter whole is like a liying egg, and the inner a standing egg : like this "0"
when you place the upright between two iron blocks (where the grub screw sits and after the bearnig hole) then you can "hammer" it back with a little luck and feel.
I hope you know what i mean.
Check the whole gaps horizontal and vertical then you must know what to do.
By the way. my drivetrain spinns 20 sec with wheels on.
bearings are the kitones.
I alway degrease complete with brake cleaner, and then oil it with "brunox speed lube"
The gears are (of course) ungreased.

Hy there
Last Saturday i made a little test session with my Evo5 on my home club racetrack.
the results are not bad, but i think i will try to higher the rollcenter a little bit.
First with 0,5mm under the blocks and than 1mm under the susp. blocks.
I think this should it make a little more leaning in the corners. Now it is a very little bit snappy when a fast left follows a fast right. (in German "lastwechsel").
I think because of the low Rollcenter, the car response not as quick as it should at this med. grip asphalt track.
On carpet it handels perfect.
Other drivers of my club always upper the RC in the outdoor season. But they are also dirve other brands.
Lets see. When i do my litte RC tests the i will post the results.

Hey i just bought a new EVO 5, (that i built my self) and i put all the aluminum parts you can buy for it in, but everything is VERY VERY stiff/tight, how long does it usually take to "run in", also it is noisy, what would be the main cause of noise (except motor)
Thanks
Adam
Thanks

How free does your car spin with wheels on? (and u turning one wheel with your hand?)
Try re-shimming the car... sometimes a bad shimming job can cause noise and that "tightness" in the drive train.

Hy there!
I finished the build in of the Air duct in my evo5, and i have to say,
operation succsesful, patient is alaive
It was a very difficult project, but with the right tools, and a little bit of time it is no problem.
I will post pictures soon, because i have no SD Card reader here at the moment.
Stay tuned....
