Engine Tech question
Hi Guys and Girls
I am currently in the concept stage of designing and then building a nitro gokart, it will be 1/5 scale and as acreate as i can get it with the materials available,
So with that i want to use chain drive, no clutch and loose the pull start just due to the space.
My question is can i get a side exhaust clockwise spinning nitro engine? Im thinking an 18 size?
Many thanks

If you want a 1/5 scale go kart check this one out Oops this kart is larger than 1/5 scale it is 1/2 scale. http://rcnewz.com/wp-content/uploads...rc-go-kart.jpg

Maybe in the world of airplaines you can find an engine because rear monted props pushing the model....
But I doubt with todays engines you will find one, If you can make an own crankshaft or modify the current one it is possible, you only have to mirror the intake hole to the other side (with the crankpin as the center point)

Another option would be from the boat world. With rear carb rotary valve engines, all you have to do is flip the rotor around. Of course then you would need to come up with some water cooling.

As Roelof says, you need to change/move the induction timing on the crank or on the valve (in case of rear induction), as anything else will just move the exhaust outlet and not the rotation of the engine. But maybe you need both.
