I used front RC10 shocks on the rear of the Scorpion with the stiffest springs I could find, 45WT oil and #3 AE pistons. On front I used .56 bodies (like a 10L center shock, and maybe TC3), green springs, 35 oil, #2 pistons.

The Pargu front towers actually have a counter bore at the point where the chassis rails bend. Smart idea to make the towers for flush to rail.

My Scorpion kit turned up the other day and I've since started assembly. The first thing that struck me was how small the rims and tyres were as I've been running 1/4 scale RC dirt bikes for the last few years. Once into the build I was enjoying it and found it went together easily and fairly free of pain.
It did take me back to the past when I first assembled the original Scorpion. It looks so nice in the flesh, bare bones. I got a few pics to remember it like that. As someone mentioned the shock gasket was a bit tricky to fit especially as I couldn't see it very well. One disappeared for a while but turned up luckily. Also they were a little tricky to bleed as also suggested but once done they turned out extremely smooth and felt very nice on the bench, can't wait to try it off road. Unfortunately my motor and high speed servo haven't turned up yet so I've fitted an old motor I had lying around and a std Futaba servo just to give it a run. I gave it a quick blast around and can say I enjoyed it a lot. It has a unique feel compared to today's buggies something I liked and is incredibly stable. Mine has a little too much steering even with those hard front tyres so I've fitted some of the soft rears and I'll fiddle with the front end to tame it down if needed. I'm sure with a quicker responding servo it would be better also allowing me to correct a lot quicker. I took a few pics of the finished buggy, I went the box scheme this time, maybe next one I might do a different colour if the radio box and wing are available from the same place. That said I'm a fan of the yellow and am quite happy with how it turned out. It should stand out on the track.

First run
Of course no build of mine can ever go without a container of parts flying across the room at some point. I'd managed to do the whole build and was installing the servo when the inevitable happened so luckily didn't have many parts left. I managed to find all the screws but couldn't find a ball stud for the steering horn. Luckily I had something similar to do the job and it was all good. I had a quick spin on the track at home yesterday and found the buggy fairly loose with not great traction under power on the hard surface. I installed some soft rear tyres for a test run today without touching any front end settings. The difference was very noticeable with much better balance and hook up the buggy felt nice and was a lot of fun. I got a little video and a few pics.

Some close up slow mo track action with the Scorpion. Sorry its kind of long and repetitive but I'd already cut half the clips and didn't want to cut any more. Just stop watching if you get bored. Enjoy if you don't. I could watch these sorts of clips all day, maybe there's others out there similar.
