Ok,, I have to add offroad, cause that's what I started with.
First on road the worst
1.Tamiya TA02 - heavy, power robbing transmission, cant get to work right.
2. Tamiya TA03 - used to strip the ball diff splines , very expensive to replace.
Also couldn't cure the rear end hopping with modified motors.
Off road the worst
1. Tamiya Boomerang, Hotshot
Heavy, power robbing transmissions, breaking knuckles even with light knocks.
Best On road :
1. Kawada SV-10 Alcyon
Netted me with 4 TQs and 4 1st place finishes, my tamiyas never gave me that experience.
Best Offroad :
1. Kyosho Optima Mid and Optima Mid Custom Special
Strong, rugged, mostly trouble free, and easily adaptable to brushless motors.

My favorite is the Tamiya Hummer (TA01) because it was my first, and I still have it (as a heavily modified TA02 shelf queen now).
My best car: Xray T1 FK04. It came out at the right time. Balanced GP3300 saddle pack configuration, paired with a few well tuned 27 turn monster stock motors and Jaco foam tires, this thing was beautiful to drive on carpet. Compared to what people were typically run with at the time, this thing earned the nickname "SexRay".
My worst car: The Traxxas Tmaxx (1st generation). As a kid who just graduated highschool, I saved up for a year (in my first year of college) to buy it a year later. By that time, a .15 TRX engine powering a monster truck through a plastic gearbox & gears was realized to be a stupid idea. It never ran right, and the "EZ start" was an electric motor hanging from the top of the rear shock tower. By this time, I could have bought a Monster Pirate Truggy, or put Truggy tires on a Kyosho Inferno and dominated the terrain. I could also have saved up and waited a little longer to buy a .21 powered Savage. But at least I didn't buy the 1st generation HPI Nitro MT

Best: Xray 2008, 2012
Worst: Sak Zero: unusable out of the box. Needed to keep buying upgrades just to be usable as a basher.
Best and worst : TT01 . Yep, its the best & worst. We all know why.

Best- original RC10 buggy. Changed the r/c world. Serpent Cobra GT8 , fast , fun, durable.
Worst- Duratrax Axis 1/8 buggy , one run would have it bent to bits. T-Maxx was over engineered, poor design small block junk.

I started the hobby in 2000, so I can't comment on any cars before that.
Best On-road: Xray T2'007. So easy to drive, so durable (except those driveshaft blades!), and it looked great.
Best Off-road: Associated T4. I think I had 2 B4s and 3 T4 in the mid 2000s. These are what I learned to drive on. You could set them up for anything, bashing, racing, street. So versatile. The durability wasn't awesome, but that's what 1/8th buggies are for.
Worst on-road: Losi JRXS-R. Ran it on a carpet a few times and I just couldn't get it to work. Wasn't all that strong either.
Worst off-road: Kyosho ZX-5. Terrible handling in the rough and so ridiculously fragile.

Best:
.Kyosho Optima mid SE, bought 2 and they were great cars.
.Schumacher Cougar, nice 2wd buggy to drive & tough as nails.
.PB Sizzler 1/10 pan car, others couldn't get the rear suspension to work, but I did & won a title event (then it got stolen during presentations).
.3 Racing F113 (2 of) Handle well out of the box, and rarely break.
.Tamiya TA05 ver1, thing has massive slop everywhere but it just goes where you point it without any fuss.
.Parma Pro Panther, the car kit came in a plastic bag much like a body shell does, looked like it was designed in Russia, build quality was non existent but it was actually fun to drive.
Worst:
.Nichimo Spirit FWD Off road...
.PB Mini Mustang, 2 speed gearbox was never consistent.
.First of the Yokomo belt drive dog fighter 4wd off roaders.
.Serpent F-110, poorly made, shock was made of rubber, and broke when looked at the wrong way.
Cheers
Rob.

So many ways to grade this and most are purely subjective but having said that...
Best - HPI Pro4 -> STILL the best handling car I've ever driven
- honorable mention to the TRC pan car I first won a race with
Worst - TC3 -> rubbish handling and early versions had rubbish plastics. I once broke a suspension arm dropping it onto a table from about 4"
- Yokomo YRX-10 -> the less said the better
