I had that happen one time with one of the first few sets I had. I wasn't sure what happened so I cut it and re-brushed it and they've been flawless since.

Donny's right. A get the radio and good servo. You can get a ride height gauge cheap and you can use anything flat for a setup board. Worst case, borrow one at the track for a wile until you have the case to get one. You can't do that with a radio or servo

If possible, you may want to look into an Airtronics M8 if you can still find one new. The M11 is an awesome radio, but could be a lot of radio for your first digital.

I think you get what you pay for I personally don't care for the Spektrum yet.

Servos, you get what you pay for. I like the Airtronics 94755 personally. It's tough and works great.

The Spectrum is definitely not needed. I ran it for a while and liked the convenience, but I just wasn't running well. I talked to a lot of guys (PW included) and decided to switched back to normal 27 band, and immediately my lap times pick up again. I can't explain why. There really didn't seem to be anything wrong with it but I just ran better with the standard stuff.

I just picked up a Futaba PCM radio. I have a few guys running the Spektrum at my track and they love it. I am not sure yet, plus I use a LRP Quantum speedo and have heard bad things about that combo. You can get a used radio, helps if you know the person that has it. M8,3PJS, KO Mars any of those are good and the servos by those companies are good too.

If you're interested, I can sell you my M8 for $125. It's a few years old and it does look like it, but it's in good shape. I'll throw in a Trinity Radio bag, a 75 band module, couple sets of chrystals, and a couple receivers if you'd like.

I'm a decent motor tuner in my own mind....LOL and I couldn't get these brushes to work. They were very hard on the comm and were'nt fast at all. It took about six passes to get the comm trued up again. Maybe my brushes were from the bad batch but it was bad enough that I won't purchase them again.

The F-brush was also used to win the 2005 ROAR stock nats.....Like I posted before, the brush had its problems with the 2nd batch. Since then, the brushes have perfromed flawlessly. I think the biggest advantage is the ability to re-run the brush....We all 1 run the brushes at bigger events, but in all honesty the F works as well the 3rd and 4th run as it does the 4th.....

In my experience anyways......
