Bob,

This idea of yours, and what you wrote to start it off, is incredible. I've been into RC cars since 1988 and could never get enough of it. I was never a regular racer at a track, but subscribed to RC Car Action and read all about my RC racing hero's from the late 80's and early 90's. I have kept ALL of my old magazines, and absolutely love going back and reading the old ads and articles. I think the magic that used to exist with the hobby of RC cars has been sort of diluted with so much available, and so many of the younger generation needing instant gratification. It just doesn't seem to be the same. I wish I had great old race stories to contribute, but I do have a real love of the history of RC racing. I absolutely love the old racing stories. The only story I could give is being at the 1992 1/10 off road worlds in Detroit Michigan. I was in my early teens and was in awe of all of the RC Super Stars there. This was when 1/10 2WD Modified was the King of classes. It was awesome to witness.

A heart felt thanks for taking this project on Bob, I truly do appreciate it.

Ben

I remember reading a blog post about this car (it was Kent Clausen's car) on the J Concepts website couple years ago. There may have even been a thread on this site about it, too. Long story short, a racer bought it, so it's been "saved."

EddieO has stuff that was Jim Greenmeyer's, don't know how willing he is to contribute (Eddie's house easily fits the criteria for an episode of "Hoarders"). I don't think I have seen Jim's name come up yet, and if you are going to do a history or racing project, you can't forget the motor tuners! Was lucky enough to sit with Jim and have him personally teach me how to wind armatures, a real art form that's lost today (or at least lost on the only market left using brushed motors ).

Send that junk over. Spread the love, just the Quillen dyno, alright, and the Lavco dyno.

It was produced by Horizon.....I had one when I was a kid, saved up for weeks to buy it....I was the only one in the area with one. Horizon didn't make many of them, I was told less than 1000 were produced. I put an ad up years back and some guy had a mint one, along with some other cool stuff....traded straight up for some motors and batteries. I was happy.

This isn't junk! The quillen took me forever to find.....I honestly just got it about a year ago. Guy did not have the disk though, so I have no software for it....these things are ultra rare, as less than 100 were made.

The Lavco is neat. It's in a box out in the garage....I had a goal to collect all the dynos ever made. I never found a max mod dyno though, well I did find one a couple of years ago, guy wanted $500 for it. I told him to put the crack pipe down.

Yea, you don't need that stuff in your life. It's just collecting dust, don't live in the past, its time to move on, live in the NOW!

I could use it in my life though.

(how was that for an anti-pep talk)

the 10 amp single cell discharger (black and then brushed metal), the 10 amp box, the 20 amp single cell discharger, the matching box. I should organize all my lavco for a pic. I have some new in the box as well.
