In Europe almost all the tracks have grass runoff area's, so no boards to crash into.
The wide low bumper gives a bit more steering at high speeds, and imo it looks better. The lightweight foam bumper looks good to though.
Mounting the front bodyposts directly to to upper carbon plate gives the car a slightly sharper response, because front end downforce is transferred directly to the bulkheads.

Has anyone tried using an Xray NT1 flywheel? Will I need to get the Xray shoes?

With the Hudy you have to use a hammer which is less precise.
Pins can be bought from Capricorn, Team Titan or Hudy, all having about the same quality.

It really came down to timing of the incident. The part broke on Friday and there was no chance of me receiving the Capricorn part in time from our online reseller. I had hoped that this Xray part might be available at a LHS in my area but I ended up borrowing my buddy's Cap flywheel. I just hope Capricorn USA sells/stocks a black (or non red) flywheel.

What exactly is wrong with your Capricorn Flywheel ? If One of the flyweight pins was broken, these can be replaced. I had this happen a couple years ago and, at the time, I cut down to length the shaft from a 2 mm drill bit to fit. The roll pins used, I believe are 12 X 2 mm and are available from Capricorn and probably other MFG's as well.

I've since then obtained the correct replacement pins from Capricorn but am too lazy to replace the modified pin I made, it still remains in the flywheel. HTH

Wow! looks like whatever "Road Hazard" that didn't digest well, made it past the "Corinthian Leather" Mud Flaps. My condolences and "Never Mind".

You got more steering without the foam, because of less weight on the front.

With the controlled 37/40 tyres at the races you need all the steering you can get...

cheers

The wide bumper is about 20 grams heavier than the small bumper + foam.

I dont knwo which wide bumper you use... but with ours its less heavier + cut out the wide one... something about a bit of common sense ......

We tested both and I think eric isn't the slowest driver....

Xray bottom stock bumper - 9.0g

Xray wide bumper - 23.7g

Xray foam - 4.0g

Sorry, 10.7g difference.

Just weighed the different options:

Standard bumper setup

Lightweight foam with carbon upper plate and cut lower support

Xray wide bumper with cutouts and my own bodypost plate.
This is lighter compared to using the stock upper plate and bodyposts

So the standard bumper setup and the xray wide bumper are pretty close in terms of weight. The upper plate I use removes a couple of grams which makes the Xray wide bumper setup a bit lighter compared to the stock setup

The lightweight foam bumper setup is clearly the lightest option.

From what I've tested it smoothens out the initial steering response, it makes the steering more linear.
