I'm considering buying a D413 but is there some parts I need to buy right from the go, while I'm ordering? think I've read a bit about some problems with leaking shocks and problems with slop? can i order some parts that solve these problems? and is there other things I need to take care of right of the bat?

Also you might want to download manual, to check tools needed, I had to buy a couple Hex tips that I didn't have... 1.3 and 0.05 tips
The only thing I would say, is order an extra spur, always good to have one anyways. I ordered the B5 shock caps and composite standoffs when bought my 413 and they are still sitting in the bag in my case, no use of them yet, but nice insurance to have on hand. I ordered the HB servo arm, since had the proper height for the linkage to work. I didn't feel like messing with the servo saver assembly.
It does come with wheels, but you'll need tires and foams, a lot of the guys here run AKA Red foams and break them in by hand (scrunch up for few mins) to help the break in period.
Just this past week I ordered Front Arms, Caster Blocks and Steering blocks, it's nice insurance to have that wont end your race day, LOL
Mantis, thanks on the info for TLR piston, we should get the front page updated so people know about the pistons that DO NOT work, due to shock shaft size.

The TLR pistons can be made to work. Yes, the shaft on the HB is smaller than TLR shocks, but if you assemble the piston in the shock body, it will work. I even wrote up some instructions a while ago on this thread. And others confirmed that they got it working. In the end, I would prefer perfect ones, so I will also order when they come available. But if you really want to use premade ones right now, you can use the TLR ones.

I would have spare spur gears for any 4wd buggy. Otherwise...the car is pretty tuff. I would normally say front arms, but mine are taking a pounding. You are more likely ti break the front inner hinge pin than an arm. I would get some xrings for the shocks. Just because they are a lot more smooth.

You need the AE shock mounts. I used the AVID B5 shock mounts. And you will need 3mm screw that is like 23mm long. And of course the AE caps. But...The AE caps are not a 100% solution. The "fit" but one of my HB shocks will not thread the cap on all the way. And it was not hte AE cap. I think the anodizing on this shock is slightly thicker than the other 3 shocks. The kit caps work ok, but they get work after a while and will start popping off on crashes. I had one pop off flat landing a large jump. Seems like the rears are mostly the problem.
