S1 looks a bargain at that price. Fingers crossed there will be some good UK availability, because if the quality is there, that is the most up-to-date chassis on the market to get people started in TC.

If the Xray diff fits then the R1 diff will be a cool Xray upgrade. The R1 gear diff has output shaft bearings.

Yes, R1 gear diff can be used for Xray.

R1 gear diff is lighter and smoother with the bearings.

Spec-R S1 will be in stock soon, I'll post here when it's available.

Thanks.

Hi everybody. I'm thinking about a new touring car. I currently have a tamiya 417 but due to breakages I'm considering changing cars. This car looks really good for the price. I'm just wondering how the durability is, what hop-ups are needed, what problems it has, and how easy or hard it is to set it up for certain tracks. I will be racing on carpet 100% of the time with a 17.5t motor. Any help will be much appreciated.

The car is very durable in my opinion . So far the only breakage for anyone was an outer hingepin . For setup the kit setting felt great on carpet I made some adjustments to better fit my driving style but out of the box it was great. If you are getting the R1 then no hopups are needed as the kit comes with all the necessary parts like any other high end kit. You might think of getting some dcj's . The kit springs work great for carpet but maybe look at getting the rsd spring set from reflex racing

Literally the only "problems" I had were the kit shimming was a little off, i.e. in the steering assembly, rather than the 1mm shim used on the cross plate, I used 0.7mm to take up any slop, and on the bell cranks they required 0.2 (like the shims you find on the 417/TCX steering.
Also the car needed 0.2mm under 1 of the top hat spacers on each side (again like the 417/TCX

Apart from that there's nothing I think to worry about, the outer hinge pins seem to be designed to give in an impact to spare the other parts, so maybe stock up on a few of those?

As for hop ups, It comes with all the toe options and some roll centre shims, do maybe double up on those for more tuning?
Get yourself some yokomo springs and job done...

It seems that some kits are a bit tighter than others, or perhaps I'm just not finding the problems yet but I didn't see any slop in my steering rack. the top hats on the C-hubs are a tiny bit loose for sure but not enough to make or break anything in my car. Unless I was chasing tenths it'd never matter.

The best upgrade for suspension/steering slop IMO is good ball cups, the kit cups are just a bit too hard and a bit too loose to be useful.

Thanks for all the reply's. By DCJ's do you mean something like a swing shaft that reduces vibration when turning on power? Sorry I just don't know what a DCJ is.

Yes, that is more or less the function. DJC's are basically the front drive shafts, they have two points of articulation instead of just one like most drive shaft setups.

DJC or "Double CVD"

What anti roll bar can you use on this kit....Xray? Do you sell the anti roll bar end ball cups with the set screws?

This might be my daughters first race car/VTA car....

I'm not sure what other sway bars will work with this kit yet but the ball ends with set screws are part of the shock components set.

http://www.reflexracing.net/SPR-R1P3...et_p_1394.html

It comes with a 1.4MM and a 1.3MM for the front/rear. works really well on medium traction surfaces with some bumps.

For VTA you won't be able to beat the Spec-R S1 I'll bet, not in price or performance unless you get the R1. I hope to have one of each soon!

Wouldn't you also need this to hold the roll bar to the bulkhead? I didn't think the S1 came with any of the stuff to attach roll bars - although its difficult to tell without having a manual to read.

As for the roll bar, no idea on the sizes - if someone measures their ones then you can probably work out which other manufactures roll bars will fit. All it has to do is fit around the bulkhead without binding on anything.
