hey all

I had a maybe dumb question but i was running my buggy at the track and kept hearing a noise like small debris or dirt getting into gears or something, and noticed how exposed the motor is. I cut the body as close to the motor as possible but it kindof stuck out a little (Reedy Mach 3 10.5) and was surprised how exposed the holes in the rear edge of the can are. Should I be worried about this and figure out some sort of guard of some sort? Not sure about the noise but it happened maybe 3 times during running at the track (it would eventually go away like the small grains of sand/dirt would dislodge).

thanks!

Sorry if asking an old question. Anyone try B6 front arms and/or steering blocks on the B5M?

Front pivot block is very different between the cars I'd venture to say they wouldn't fit. I'll check the bulkhead sizes tonight when I get to the track and unpack.

I am running B6 steering blocks, or more precisely, everything except the arms. The front C-hubs are 5 or 6mm taller on the B5. The B6 front axle is also 1mm longer than the B5, so you can't tighten the B5 axle or the bearings lock up.

I originally tried to find the right combination of shock spacers and 3mm x 1mm shims to make it happen, but it was too hillbilly for my taste and I would surely loose it if I had to change it between race heats.

So to do it correctly, you need:
B6 steering blocks
B6 C-hubs
B6 aluminium front axles
AE Factory team or Shelle B6 hat bushings.

The end result is better and the fit is so perfect with the FT hat bushings that there is zero slop in the kingpin bolts. I still run my B6 as my main car now, but I'm glad I did the B5 upgrade.

Default Curious as to a setup

I can see that this thread hasn't updated in a while. Haha. But I was just curious.

I'm picking up a B5 roller next week (as you can see in the picture). I'm completely clueless as what to buy for a setup.

I wanna get into dirt or clay if that helps at all. I know I've seen a few helpful hints at what is great or not, but anything new would be helpful.

Thanks Eddie, ultimately, I was just really curious if the steering block arms with different Ackermann would make a big (any) difference. Was pretty sure the arms the bulkhead were different, but the carriers, steering blocks were part of the idea. Just wanted to ask before spent the money on all the parts.

Hello, just registered for rc tech. I bought a rc10 b5m with a hobby wing ESC and a speed passion 17.5r motor. Looking for some shorty packs. I was looking at the team Orion 4500 or 5000. Also I need to get some wheels and tires. Jconcepts wheels and tires for an outdoor track. I will be racing at lake part in Tampa. I think they are running a pin type of tire.

Check into the mono wheels, great deal and work great. I've had great luck with AKA impacts and PL holeshots on the rear and just ribs up front..

Most definitely newcomer the Orion and Trinity in 5mm post pods. Just a soft rear tire something that doesn't like to load up.

You should look into SMC or Fantom packs, Orions are way overpriced for the same performance. As for tires you should ask the locals what is a good tire to run. Pretty difficult to answer that online.

Hi there!

I asked a couple of days ago if the PL-body for the centro-conersion kit will fit the B5M: well, I did not get an answer so I ordered the body and tried myself:
... it does fit! okay, it does not fit exactly but it is quite okay, it is just the chassis part around the servo that is not perfect.

Now I have two more questions (I red almost 200 pages of this thread and did not find answers, so I apologize for not reading the hole thread first):

1: my shocks tend to leak; any recommendations on what o-rings I have to use?

2: which one to prefer?: screwed pistons (V2 shock shafts) or the the std ones (clipse)

thx for an answer!!

I've had good luck with the Pro-Line Holeshots for the front and the Pro-Line Calibers for the rear, best to ask the locals what tires work best though
