Gizmo GZ1 -
#256
Had a great weekend racing the GZ1 at The Full Throttle Championships in Richardson, TX (Dallas).
Qual 5th in 17.5 with a 3rd overall place finish (behind Former National champs Eric Anderson and Kyle Klingforth), battling for position with both of them, finishishing within 2 seconds of the winnner in both A2 and A3.
In Modified, I qualified 2nd and finished second behind National Champion Chris Adams at his home track.
This was only the second time for myself as well as the Gizmo on the new black carpet. I had been up to Dallas 2 weeks before for a very brief testing session before this event. I had never had an extended period of time on black carpet with a sedan before, so I think the results were truly impressive considering the circumstances. The car had the pace to hang with national champions all weekend long, in 17.5 and mod. I'd say it was a succesful debut for the car on CRC black carpet.

Cons you have to buy some extra spur gears, because you can only get 3 teeth per spur gear. But theyare really easy to change, just 4 screws.

What turned me on to this car is the infinite adjustments that you can make. I come from an 1/8th scale On road background. We adjust everything by turning the pillow balls out or in to adjust the cars. This car is the same but uses turnbuckles. we can adjust this car in 1/4 to 1/8 turn increments to where other manufactures use braces that choose the increment for you. And you have to buy every one of those pieces. This car comes ready to run and choose every setup you want to put under it. You dont need to run back to the pit to change a toe block. You just adjust it at the track and put the car back down to try your adjustment. I know Im very happy with my car and will do more testing to let everyone know. But, thanks to Christian, I believe I found a good home. Plus this car is very very new. Theres a ton more to come.

Pros
- on pace out of the box (comparable to my a800)
- huge amount of forward traction
- good rotation
- build quality awesome (just a small amount of hand finishing - just like every car)
- diff is super smooth and leak free
Cons
very tight fit for electronics
- depending on motor used, you may have to cut or grind motor tabs down
- would have liked the brass weight/spine anodised black like the rest of the car
Very happy so far. I race on large outdoor tracks in 13.5t blinky.
Leonard.
