Doubt it... I think speedy RC is about the only game for shaved gears and they don't sell anything else.

Nope, CB's Custom makes cut gears also.

I do the same thing. I pop the pins out of the clip, place the wires back and forth over each other then put heat shrink on it. Take a photo of the order of the pins in the clip.

I thought about shortening them and even have the extra pins and clips to do so. I decided to keep them the original length for resale and in case I wanted to use it in another application.

Waterfall fan mount question: Anyone use these? Prime or Shapeways? Also, there are different sizes? Any tips on how much temps are down and weight addition much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not a huge fan (lol) of the waterfall mounts available...You pretty much have to run the Finnisher body, they dont work well with the silencer bodies. So I made my own, I hollowed out the stock waterfall and picked up the Schumacher KF2 fan mount. Mounted it to the cradle and attached a 25mm fan. When i initially started running with a fan it dropped temps roughly 25º.

Hx - I'm a noob, so anything to lower temps serves a dual function of allowing more runtime when practicing turning laps. Did you just dremel it out? Any issues with durability?

Yes. Dremeled out the stock waterfall and mounted the fan mount with a pair of xrings in between the cradle and mount so it has a little shock protection.

It just runs along the cradle and plugs into the spare channel on the rx.

I got a waterfall mount and use a finisher body. Just installed it recently and was bashing around in the street in 45 degree weather. Motor never got hotter than 75 degrees. I will be bringing it to the track in a few days to see how it works indoor and putting some actual stress on the motor.

I'm way under weight so it didn't bother me adding it as I would think the benefits outweigh the weight penalty. Planning on jumping up a gear or two on the pinion as well to see how it handles it.

Default Waterfall

You should sell these. I would buy one from you. Imagine a lot of people out there that don't get the waterfall mount because they don't want to deal with either a new body or they like the AE body....

All you need to do is Dremel the waterfall and solder the plug onto a fan. Amain sells everything you need.

Thanks for all the tips fellas!

Just getting back into the hobby in a serious way. I've always previously built kits with allen keys. Picked up a 1.5MM and 2MM hex driver from the hobby shop. Couldn't believe the difference in how my hands feel after a few steps, as well as how tight I can get things. I thought that the chassis plates just wouldn't sit perfectly flush with the chassis when screwed together. I went back over them with the hex driver and it's mint.

Good tools make a difference, whodathink it
