Its true the best speed for the Mini on an asphalt track is about a 18T brushless motor or about 2230KV motor, a 2400KV motor will give you a some tire spin if you come out of the corner full throttle. I have a 2400KV on order some of the guys ran these and didn't really like it, the car was harder to control on asphalt even with sugar water sparyed on track.

The civic body fits, I do have some issue occassionally with rear tire clearance but it works. The latest hpi civic body now has real light buckets if you are into a more scale appearance. I have no idea where I got the foam wheel tire combo but they work great even on asphalt. I don't race. If there was a track or club near me I would. I live in Atlanta, if anyone knows please PM me.

As Tony gray said in a post up above the 3000kv 13t ezrun motor we run in Australia is the equivalent to a 380 size motor

Tony should know as it is my understanding that he was instrumental in getting the ezrun combo adopted for the mini class here.. Extensive comparison testing was conducted to ensure that the combo was not to diff to the black can

For the record I race at one of the grippiest asphalt tracks in Australia and we don't have a high level of tyre wear.. I have been running the same shimizu pit 35's on the front since beginning of February and I have raced every week and practiced atleast one other day in the week..

Yes Sweep mini tires are 55mm and Tamiya tires are 60mm ,but really are 58 to 59mm . So Tamiya tires will have a little better roll out then the Sweeps . But overall traction and handling is better with the Sweeps. The Tamiya tires would shine on a open layout. Sweeps would shine on a technical track. Tamiya base setup would be S-grips in the rear and M-grips in the front . Sweeps base setup would be 25's in the rear and 33's in the front.

Ray K - Thanks for the information. The set up you mentioned with the "S" grips in the front and "M's" in the back worked really well this past winter inside on carpet with my M03M. I recently purchased a M05. I put that same tire setup on the M05. This past Saturday at a parking lot race it didn't work well. I tried the "A" slicks in front and that didn't help. I went to "A" slicks all around and the car drove really well. My friend was running a M05 with the tires that come with the pro kit. He had very little grip. I gave him some old "S" grips for the front and "A" slicks in the back and his car drove really well.

I've run side by side an EZRun 13t system with a Novak Havok 17.5t system. The EZRun can be faster than the 17.5t depending on the motor timing you set.

seriously, i have one in mine... i had a blast. very funny to see mini reaching touring car speeds on the straight.
placed weights on the chassis floor and had little traction roll incidents.

I'm going to test my M05 with Xerun 60A and Team Powers 13.5T motor tonight.
Test with supercharge and so on... Should be fun.

I've finished my Ken Block replica. Remember, its a Colt Skoda Fabia 210mm. Its not 100% the same as the Subaru because the decal sheet was 1/10th, the body 1/12th so some bits had to go (the 43 on the roof for example), but I'm happy enough. It looks decent and no-one's done a KB replica on the forum for a Tamiya Mini!

I wouldn't put the Subaru logo on it but otherwise it looks cool.

Here a 04' Civic SI body it fits the M03M, its 225mm body, I wanted something different then the Fiat or Suzuki that fits the M03M. I like the way it came out although the lime green on the cap was a little less metallic but oh well. Now I wanna see how it performs. This body style for the Civic is also not as popular as the older style cause I haven't seen any yet. I kinda butchered it a little with the double holes on top in the back of the body cause it didn't have any markers but I can live with it.

cool, we have similar electncs set-up, also have the xerun 60A but used 11.5T Team Powers motor. also, what set-ups have u implemented on the car? and how many teeth - pinion ur using now?

We run spec with Ezrun 13T, but i tested a few races with my Xerun/Team Powers setup. It was insane compared to the others, so much faster top speed and acceleration. We run stock gears with hard coated 20t pinions with Xpress or Yeah Racing foams. The tirelife was halved, normally 1 set of fronts lasts 2 racenights, this time i had mine reduced to nothing in a few races, the track is very high grip carpet. The other racers are pretty good drivers, but with this setup i lapped them all twice in 20 laps. We normally have low 10 sec laps with Mini's. I was almost a full second a lap faster.

Other setup is when running Ezrun 13T:
Tamiya alu steering, 3mm toe out
Tamiya alu upright front/rear (1.5 degree toe in rear)
Hybrid TA03/Manta Ray diff (metal parts from TA03, gear and thrustbearing from Manta Ray, set loose)
Tamiya TRF M-chassi dampers with blue spring all around, 2 hole piston and 200 Tamiya oil
Tamiya carbon shaft in gearbox
Tamiya M03 universal shaft
Tamiya Alu motor mount with DF02 heatsink
Tamiya Steering turnbuckle
Futaba S9402 steering servo
Rideheight is 2mm front/rear
Camber in front is stock, upper hole in chassi
Camber rear is 0,5 degrees, upper hole on upright
Wheelbase is 210mm with Colt Beetle body
25 gram weight under servo and 20 gram on top chassi
Lipo is Intellect 4000mah 25C
