The 5x8x2.5? Of all the things that could break I would never expect a tranny bearing. I have spares for the wheels and hubs. Looks like I need to place another order.

Yep.. the little guy that the slipper spring and it's washer sit up against. My gearbox comes apart every 3 or 4 race days, and it looked fine the last time I had it apart... I don't like sudden bearing failure! I will report if I have another go out... maybe I just had a bad bearing.

Default Gearing

Hey guys, need a little help on gearing. I am currently running the MM3 setup on the car with and lrp 8.5t and viper ESC. Track is small and very technical. Last week, my esc wouldnt turn on after running a full battery through the car. I sent the ESC in for repair and was told that my current setup is to aggressive. Im running 81t spur with 24t pinion. After running the car for 10 min, the ESC and motor were not hot at all. I was able to touch both without any issues. My throttle epa is also turned down to 80%. What gearing would you recommend to start off with?

Great work! I know a lot of people here in the UK could do with one of these as they have broken so many! Just a thought but It would be nice to see this part be able to take the plastic pill adjustable inserts that are for the V3 410 rear brace. Then it would be fully adjustable.

First have a look at your timing on your motor and esc, that could be set too high.

I run 87(stock?)/24 LRP and SP, I'm actually going to turn down the timing on the esc today, ran it last week and it was a little too warm after the race.

I am running a 83T/24T with a SP V3 7.5 with the stock settings on the latest firmware of a HW 120A V2.1 ESC and it is really great and does not get hot at all.

Upgrade, don't replace. I have found the Durango bearings are crap. I have had two fail, and my buddy one.

First off get a temp gun. I have seen them for under $20. You can't go by touch. I have seen the restaurant guys set a plate down with their bare hands. When I touched it, it was HOT! Going by touch will vary from one person to the next. Also what about vents? Do you have any cut outs for air to circulate?

I never installed the stock bearings when I built, used AVID instead and keep two complete set of bearings as spares.

Maybe a conical washer is needed to ride against the bearing instead of a flat washer?

Good thought.. im not sure.. Could you imagine though what would of happened if the balls in the bearing had gone INTO the gearbox instead of OUT of the gearbox when it failed?

Does avid have a kit of bearings for the 210 or did you order each individual bearing. How much did the bearings cost if you don't mind me asking? I was looking at Acer b/c they have the kit of bearings but they are like $90 which seems expensive for some bearings

If you buy from Avid or Protek, they are $1 each and work great.
