I initially sold my 416 with intention of replacing it with a 418. Then work brought me to Las Vegas and here there is only a bi - monthly parking lots race. I couldn't justify the 418 price for racing in a parking lot. I picked up a BD7 RS for cheap to race. I only went to one race.. During first practise run I snapped the right rear hub carrier. Then during the race I broke the left rear hub carrier. Then I learned that the axles need to be trimmed. From the little that I saw of the car, it handled pretty darn well. (When I didn't crash it lol) So I want to give it another chance before picking up the TB04.

I do prefer Tamiyas because that's what I primarily own and have lots of parts that interchange between the models (suspension blocks, axles etc)
I also think the heavier TB04 will probably do well in the parking lot.

What hop ups did you go with?

By the way, are the 418 style arms the same carbon reinforced versions or are softer plastic versions of the 418 arms, that we had in the past found with TA/TB cars.

I'm keeping on the stock the TB04 arms for now .until I do some test and tune. All the steel parts like the out drive lay shaft, tranny internal parts are now alum. and some hop up screws..Exotek motor mount ,steering cranks bell..I will pics as soon I get it done..

Just received my tb04 pro v2, I took a quick look through the box and realised they have included the cf reinforced lower deck as standard

The part numbers in the TB04 PRO II manual lead me to believe the chassis tub and TRF418 suspension parts are not carbon reinforced. What's stamped into your chassis tub and the sprues for the suspension parts? If you see >PA-GF<, then that's a glass filled polyamide (nylon). If you see >PA-CF< then that's a carbon reinforced polyamide.

Hi,

I am working on my wish list (for my birthday, somewhere in October...) for Hop Ups on the Pro II kit. So far, I have:
54596 Carbon Reinforced Lower Deck
54593 Carbon Reinforced G Parts Gear Set
49382 RC On Road Tuned Spring Set - White
54479 RC Separate Sus Mnt Set Spacer - 0.5mm (4pcs)
54480 RC Separate Sus Mnt Set Spacer - 1.0mm (4pcs)
53932 RC Aluminum Roll Center Spacer - (0.5mm) 4pc
53933 RC Aluminum Roll Center Spacer - (1mm) 4pc

Then I have the alloy suspension mount parts, but the choice is hugh. There are 11 "RC TB03 Sus Mount xxx" and 5 "RC TA05VII Separate Sus Mounts - Version II (xx)" to choose from. If I don't want to change the car's standard geometry, which ones do I chose? Or is there a specific setup recommended over stock geometry?

Cheers,

Hugo

Front suspension mounts typically used: 1B/1B, 1C/1C & 1D or 1A for sweep
Rear suspension mounts typically used: inside rear- 1XA or 1XB and outside rear- 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E

So, if you wanted all suspension blocks for all potential set ups. Here's the break down:

1- 1XB
1- 1XA
1- 1A
3- 1B
3- 1C
2- 1D
1- 1E
Totaling (12) suspension blocks. Sounds like a lot. But that will give you every variation that matters. You don't have to buy the newest suspension blocks. Many longtime Tamiya drivers have a lot of used blocks for sale. Will save a ton of money. Just make sure the blocks have the 1and letter on them. Not just the letter. Hope this helps.

Thanks, OK, so:

1x 54066 - 1XB
1x 54067 - 1XA
1x 54069 - 1A
3x 54070 - 1B
3x 54071 - 1C
2x 54072 - 1D
1x 54073 - 1E

So we leave the "RC TA05VII Separate Sus Mounts - Version II (xx)" alone, just use the above ones. And if you were to chose one set-up to start with? I fear here in the Netherlands trade in these parts second hand will not be very big.

[EDIT]Are the plastic ones in the manual coded the same? The standard set-up then calls for 2x 1A in front, and 1D/1XA in the back, right?[/EDIT]

Thanks,

Hugo

I've thrown away the sprues already and can't find anything on my chassis, but from this picture I think you will all agree that it is cfrp chassis. However the suspension parts are all normal plastic

Didn't run into any problems in the build, the hex head screws are awesome. Now its time to find a battery
