Hi Guys

Another good day racing. My wife stayed home today so I started the day off testing and TRYING to tune her car. I can't understand why people like that TC3 she has had it for 2 years and I still can't get it to work for me. I am glad I have my son driving my Schuie 99 in his 1st year so he will earn what works from the start

I did three qualifiers with the TC3 trying to get it to work and the best I could manage was 27/5:08. for the 4th qualifier I got my one way back from GaryF ( another reason I wasn't racing my A2 wanted to get his tuned in), and proceeded to post a 29/ 5:05 pace putting me 3rd on the grid. Talk about a difference in cars.

Ended up qualified 4th for the main after the 5th qualifier with the top 6 seperated by 2 seconds. The main was brutal, one guy in the race was taking out everyone, I don't think a car was left unscathed. mangaed to crawl out a 4th place finish overall, but the racing was fun overall. You know you had a good day when you can walk away happy, no matter what happend.

Even my 6 year old son had a good day, finished 3rd in the b main rookie stock. Improving 3 laps from last weekend with my old 99.

I should stop trying to get my wife's TC3 to work and let her have my A2 when the mission comes in.

I have 2 more weeks before I will see the mission. Very eager to try it out.

PS those who run sorex tires how many runs do you find it takes to break in a new set? I only had 3 runs on an unscrubbed pair which seemed a little erratic throughout those runs.

Paul, what inserts were you using in the Sorex tires (and which tire). They shouldn't need to break in at all. You most likely should be using the 28s or 36s (depending on track temp) with HPI green (med) or blue (firm) inserts (also depending on track temp. I don't like the 32s at all, reguardless of insert.

Paul p-If the track temp is cool enough to run sorex 28's then you might be better off with the Hpi red insert. What type of surface do you run on? I can give you a very good basic set up for your wife's TC3 by PM because this is the Schuie thread and I could be killed (by Racer X) for posting info on another car....LOL

Racer X- I don't know what to do since the first carpet race has been cancelled. I guess I'll put in time for husband of the year this weekend.....

Hi Guys

I was using Sorex 28's with green inserts. The only difference was that I used a 25mm schumacher rim this time instead of the 24mm rim. After thinking about it today I figure that is prob were I went wrong. It changed the profile of the tire.

If I am wrong in thinking this pls let me know

Harsh- I'm already aheaad of you on that one. This weekends weather might stop us from doing what she wants to do but I'm sure she'll come up with something else to do.

PaulP......I like the Sorex tires outdoors on asphalt on the Schumacher 25mm rims I feel they work better. If you are racing on carpet you might be using to hard of tire. Here most of us use Sorex 20's and 24's in mod with HPI red or green inserts and 24's 28's in stock. When the grip comes up the mod guys will go to 24's all the way around and in stock go to 28's all the way around. I personaly like 24's all the way around with TakeOff medmed inserts in the rear and medhard in the front for both stock and mod. I use the Yokomo hard style rims inside. On carpet I also run the Yokomo 139g's and 139s'. The 139s' are the softer of the to and are way hooked up on carpet especialy on a fresh layout, for most club racing I run the 139g's they seem to last the longest of all the tires out there. Hope this helps you and some of the other guys getting ready to race on carpet as I race mostly on carpet all year long.

ok so I ahve some Sorex 32s and HPI red insert will go into them. I race on a med-high grip asphalt track with ambient temp prob between 70-85. Are the rigid 25mm Schumacher rims or just normal 24mm flexible Proline rims better?

I think that the best thing to do would be to run Sorex 36R's with HPI green insert and the Yokomo Dish Rims or the Sorex rims

Oasis, Listen to SpeedRacer (my brother?). Run the S36s with a green HPI insert, but not on Sorex rims, use the Yokomo rims (the Sorex rims can break the cneters out in a crash). The S32s have a very narrow temp range, while the S36s are good from 85F up to 165F (track temp) and still have EXCELLENT wear and life.
