Just bought a new MP9 tki2 wc, need motor help please
Well, i'm new to off road 1/8 nitro buggy racing. I just bought a Kyosho mp9 tki2 wc. The track i'll race mainly is a medium sized high traction clay track. Its a brand new track to can't really check around to see what others are running yet. What is a good motor for excellent low end rip but still have great top end as well?

Not really a budget. I already spent 900 on a chassis no sense to go cheap on motor. I'd say tho under 600

I figured novarossi, os or werks but there are so many different models to choose from. The ones that looked like nice motors were the novarossi 4btt .21 and the os speed v spec(that all black one thats like 499). Not sure what to get tho or what works well?

Novarossi +4 family is perfect for buggy.
Also consider the Fusion X3 (Novarossi based) and Fusion X7.
Would put the X7 over the Nova P5; both are great though.
Almost any Novarossi based engine will work very well with the 41021 manifold and 9901ss Pipeset.
Do you have any previous driving experience with Nitro or 1/8 buggy?
Don't go all out on an outrageously expensive engine first thing.
Also, I'm running the WC, I'd suggest you take a look at the Werks pro clutch assembly. Light or Medium weight. On a track like you describe, I like the medium flywheel with 2-carbon, 2-aluminum shoes and stagger the spring rates accordingly. It has a better feel than the stock 3-shoe and helps with fuel mileage too.
I'm not a huge fan of the OS family of engines, but they are easy to tune and make reasonable power. I wouldn't spend the money on a Speed; just pick up a Bullitt or JQ labeled one. Gets you a filled and coated/weighted crank and they run just fine. However, in general, they have a shorter usable lifespan than any Novarossi family engine.
The new REDS Picco-based engines are also solid.

I race 4wd modified buggy, 2wd buggy and 2wd shortcourse indoors electric now. But my experience with nitro is limited to touring car nitro racing.
I drove a friends losi today on the track with a novarossi 4btt and it was pretty decent. I didnt care for the car or at least his ssuspension way to soft for my taste but the car was easily controlable with the 4tbb and did everything fairly well. I think i'll adapt to nitro well as I'm a top 3 amain driver in all 3 classes consitatnly

RB B11 Has great low end power and screams all the way from low end to top and easy to tune imo. Gets great runtime I get 11 minutes + in buggy at my local track the rc pit supercross. I,m using the RB 2045/192 header pipe combo. or wait and get the RB BXR when its available.

i also prefer a novarossi based engine
As a driver of the mp9 i would agree with mblgr , the werks clutch is very nice and offers a number/range of adjustments , testing out the buku clutch this coming weekend , feedback will come after the weekend but all looks good so far .
my vote is plus 4 or fusion X3 2096ss or 9901ss and 41021 header will make you happy , look me up if you need anything

Everyone has their own opinion but there's no way I'd dash out $500 for an OS.
You can afford 2 Novarossi's for that and burn one down "learning" it and still be ahead. Which, despite what some people may think, they aren't "hard" to tune; but you can't whack the needles around in big increments like an OS either.
The Orion Alpha setup isn't bad. A lot of the team guys like the 3 port version just fine in buggy.
The +4 family doesn't make any 'excessive' or out of control power at any time. You use all it has, nearly all the time. But if you want more, the X7 or P5 is the way to go.
