Are the teflon shims suppose to work best? I put the comm in without any shims and see where the the comm center it self and add shims accordingly! Correct me if I'm wrong!

make sure you screw down the endbell ,cos the magnetic field changes as the retaining ring is pulled up

There should be some play! When the motor heats up there will be some expansion, so if you have"0" play you may actually cause binding when the motor gets hot!

I hold the motor in one had and pull down on the shaft with the other then let it go and see if the arm moves up or down. It should center itself. Sometimes you cant get a small enough shim to make it perfect but as long as its close it will be ok. If its off any I put the extra shim to the top. Because when the motor turns for some reason it tends to pull down (toward the pinion).

I dont reconmend teflon shims...Ive seen to many come apart and get hung in a motor in the middle of a race.

Some may have noticed that I went back to the standard size shims on the last bathc of motors...This was because I was out of them and so was Trinity...(not because I am cheap!!!)...but Ive got them back now and everything I have shipped in the past 3 weeks has the small alumn/brass shims in them again.

Ive updated the website with stock of PRS spur gears for TC's. I have 96-116 in stock and they fit any TC with standard spacing mounting holes (Yokomo, HPI, Asc, XRAY, RDX, Etc).

Also I screwed up last night and broke my bit on the lathe so orders wont be shipped out till Thrusday at the earliest unless you got a notice on your order today....I had a lot done over the weekend and the only ones that didnt get done were from last night and today. I got 3 bits and an extra lathe on the way...so no more of those problems!!

EA if u need my lathe it still has the HUDY dia. bit in it and cuts perfect. I'll overnite it tomorrow if u need me to- just call. I doubt one day will do much good but if something happens with what u got coming, LMK.

I just placed an order for an "Epic Roar Stock". I was running Paradigm motors, but have been unable to contact them for a rebuild or purchase. From what I have read and heard, I am hoping to be impressed. I need this motor for a large asphalt on road track. Also, does anyone have a good starting ratio? 64 pitch/96 or 100 tooth.

Assuming you're running TC and if the track is really big I'd start it off around 6.90 with rubber tires. I've been running the ROAR stock on my local track which is pretty big and gearing it around 7.00-7.10, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by EA's motors.

with you lot saying running on large tracks..try around 6.9....it sounds fairly low to me.

with stocks over here people tend to run around 6ish....on medium sized tracks.

is it to do with temp?

Yes, I am in Southern California, summer is approaching. Track temps last year wer around 140.

Most of the "big" tracks in the U.S. would be considered small to medium by UK standards .

yup!

i met someone on here who races in the UK. i told him the track i race is fairly "large" 160 foot straight... and he told me the track he raced on was 100 meters for the straight.

(160 feet = 48.768 meters)
