Having driven Trans AM cars with 21.5 motors and open ESCs, if ROAR is hoping to get a class between trans am and 17.5 (Blinky) with this rule they must be smoking crack because IMO any GT car, even with treaded Trans AM tires, with a 21.5 & and open ESC (e.g., Tekin Pro with boost) will blow by any 17.5 blinky stock TC out there. I know some of the TRAM AM guys with boosted ESCs were doing it before the boosted ESCs were widely available & lugging 100 grams extra weight too.
what?!??!

USVTA is NOT ROAR spec speedos...USVTA is a defined list of speedos that have been tested and perform similar.

USGT is open to blinky speedos - nothing to 'worry' about and hope someone gets something right...This combo (blinky w/21.5) is good and works very well for this class... the 'old' RCGT was open speedo and 17.5 - but this was started by HPI and then kind of faded away, like boosted 17.5 racing

if you read these rules - http://www.usvintagetransam.com/rules/index.html - you'll be fine and be up to speed with this class and USVTA

Thanks but I did read those rules and and as you say the USGT part of those rules on the USVTA website says spec software ESCs (i.e., Blinky) or approve USVTA ESC are for USGT. However, the discussion here on RCTECH is about USGT with 21.5 and open ESCs!!! I just wanted to make sure the USVTA version of the USGT rules has not changed. Basic problem is that two sanctioning organizations (USVTA & ROAR) are running the same classes under different rules.

What wing did you use on your Ford GT? I did mine years ago I only put the spoiler on it, now for GT racing I'd like to add the wing.

Hi, I used the wing from HPI for the Ford GT from Tower Hobbies. It is also used
for the BMW M3 GT2 body. Regards

We looked at a bunch of retailers, and realized you can get tires from HPI, Tamiya, Associated, Integy, etc. etc. for under $12. This doesn't lock everybody in to one tire, and if you can find something cheaper that goes faster, more power to you. Run 26mm vta tires all the way around, have fun

The other thing was keeping away from what is right now the most successful class, 17.5 sedan. Open speedo 21.5 cars will be plenty fast, but still be a reasonable speed. We're not locking anyone into a single ESC, or motor for that matter right now. This is meant to be something between VTA and sedan, but not the same as either one.

Edit: BTW the FWD thing is getting a lot of buzz, so we wanted a place for that too.
My bad. Here is the post that I was talking about. The full post refers to open ESCs for USGT. I have RCTECH set up so the the newest posts are first. Unfortunally, I clicked on last tab like I do on other websites and got some old discussion on proposed rules for USGT. Sorry for the confusion.

I was told the new USGT RIDE tires were 24mm, is there any way they will fit the HPI 26mm wheels. I am running a 200mm body and need the 6mm offset wheels.
