Thanks Wildcat.
I thought of used but most of what I have seen has been pretty hammered and risky. Besides, having rebuilt and rebuilt helicopters I think building a kit would allow me to learn more about how they are put together so the repair process is not too difficult.

I have read a lot on this forum. I am a total noob at 69 years old and am really intrigued by these cars. I have read many 4wd vs 2wd threads. The B5m or maybe the T5m is what I would choose.
But, if I could I would like to get something a bit cheaper. For Canadians a US $ costs roughly between $1.32 and $1.34. depending on the day. The Losi mini 8ight t is possible but it seems from reading the thread that there are issues. It begins to make sense that a B or T 5m would be easier to work on and better quality all around.
I would do some racing with it on packed outdoor tracks and carpet inside.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, John

Either RC is good. Both fun.

AZWILDCAT is correct I tried going the cheaper kit route and while it was ok I found that I spent more money in spare parts due to no local support and more broken parts due to quality. I just recently purchased my t5m after getting a b5m and can tell you the kits are very nice builds. You can save money on the electronics, go with trackstar or hobbywing both are good and reasonably priced. but on the kit the best wat to save money is to buy the better kit up front. lastly while looking for mine I found that people wanted more than a new kit for a used built one due to perceived value in upgrade parts that I did not want and when it was just a used stock one it was only 20 to 40 dollars less than new, for that difference I rather buy and build.

Anyone have a good setup for carpet? I've been running on turf with the kit setup, oils 35/30, pistons 1.6/1.7 Schmacher stagger blue front and spike yellow rear. Runs great, plenty of steering. Well I ran it on carpet for the first time last Sunday and it pushes really bad, no steering at all even when I turned the dual rate back to 100. Any ideas?

I recently built my new truck and got a set of the tight ball cup ends, after reading on here and watching a few videos on this I followed the steps given to loosen them up, by squeezing them with a pair of pliers. I still have 4 that after setting a few hours tighten back up and to me are not loose enough. Our first race of our indoor winter series is Oct. 3rd. Can't remember if it was on here or in Jason S. build/review video but someone mentioned that Associated knows of this issue and has ones that are correct and not tight and if you contact them they will send you replacement ones. Does anyone have the contact info? or do I just go to the web site and do it that way? I haven't ran it yet and if I was just bashing I might not worry about it but racing I want them to be loose and right.

Possibly try the 2mm axles.

I talked to them, they pretty much just told me what i already knew, u can polish the balls, ream the cup, put them on upside down first and/or squeeze them a bit. After doing any or all of these they will be substantially better but still not perfect. I just went ahead and spent the 5 bucks and bought new ones. I bought a bag from both amain and tower and they were both the updated cups and fit perfect.

Here are a few things to try. Raise the rear roll center by using the -2mm setting on the inner camber mount. This will reduce rear traction and also help with traction rolling. Decreasing the wheelbase can give more steering. I also like a stiffer rear oil.
