Mugen MBX5T, still competitive???
Sure it's obsolete. But can it still keep up on a slippery track. One has become available E converted for $350. I think it has MBX6t shocks but am not sure.
Elite RC mount
Mamba Moster ESC and motor.
I might pick it up run it for the rest of this year and sell it and get a D8t. Not sure how much life is left in the motor, but it looked good last time it ran. It's in decent shape, especially considering I'd be it's 4th owner.

It's pretty old looking. Amain deosn't have ll the parts for it.
It's tires could use some TAG body spray.
Maybe I should go after just the MMM and get a D8t?

friend of mine still runs the 5r and the out drives are so worn i don't see how it still runs. I mean they are rusted

id say it depends on what kinda track u are running on. the big tracks with motoX style jumps i bet the newer truggys do better.

I still run a 5T. I have a 6T as well. Yes the 6T will out perform but the 5T is still very competitive. Nitro house has all the parts you would possibly need for the 5T. If they don't have it in stock they just run down the street to Mugen and pick them up. There is still full support for the 5T. Good truggy and for one converted with the motor and esc included that's an average price.

yea man , if your club racing its all fair game i got a eight -t 1.0 and its competive, with the 2.0 t heck i even won a race and can keep up with the newer trucks.
older truggys dont get respect man lol.

The main asnwer to this question is if the driver is competive. If he is not then no car will be competive.....

Well luckily enough, you can get Caster parts for it. Most will fit and are substantially cheaper and more inportantly available.

Anything is competative in the right hands. But the new trucks do have their advantages over the older ones, such as longer chassis big bore shock and lighter drive train parts.

true newer, truggys do have a longer chassis and maybe lighter drive train parts. but you can tune a owner truggy do be more competive by doing diffrent setups my has big bore shocks.

Even with a good setup, the old trucks don't handle as good as the new trucks. If the old trucks were just as good, they wouldn't of came out with new trucks. The 1.0's and 5T's are still competative, but they Are slower. Sounds like an easy way to get about a second a lap faster, especially in 30+ minute mains, that will add up to over a lap.
