I got my shocks and rear shock tower yesterday and installed them. I will go make some test laps today. I went with 600cst front 550cst rear. I think it's too soft but I will drive it first.

Clean setup! Love the paint job.
One suggestion: I find the rx8 doesn't really need the fan (the blades break to quickly anyway :/), so I pulled mine out & run the battery wires through the cage above the heat sink.

Thanks. The body is actually an FTW Night Fox for Associated RC8.2e. If the front is cut for the Mugen it seems to fit better than the Mugen body with the kit. The paint job is by Smiley in Houston.

As far as the fan goes, here in Houston in the summer it is needed. I see too many RX8s burn up without a fan in the summer. But it would help with the wiring as it seems to be a little high for the Mugen body.

I run the nightfox for the x7 & found it to be a little tight on my SMC 6500mah packs. Recently I picked up a promatch pack (SMC was out & I needed a new one for a race :/). It is a few mm shorter when turned on it's side, giving the clearance I needed.

How do the body mounts line up? It looks like the rear might be a little lower on the x7r than the rc8.2, but with out the drop down on the sides it looks like there is more room on the side pods. Is that correct?

Raced the new car yesterday and it seems to very good on the track with the kit setup and no brakage or missbuild issues. Ended up cranking the droop screws in about 2 full turns but need to turn more going to start doing some more tuning and see what happens but so far so good.

Raced the car at club race tonight. Definitely easier to drive than the RC8.2e I have been driving for the last 2 years. I did change a few things from stock. Put the rear upper arm on the outside carrier hole. Suggested by fast guy with MBX7R nitro. I also changed the 14t pinion to a 16t and will probably go to 17t. I am a sportsman level driver, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I was not necessarily faster, but much more consistent. The car feels tight and solid, no complaints.

Got the Mugen MBX7R ECO this week. My son assembled it. Today was the first day at the track. Very impressed. Nice fit and finsh. started with the stock set up. After the first round he shortened the rear camber links. Thats it. It handled awesome. Turned the fastest lap by .5 seconds over the rest. Qualified 3 in the A main. Finished 1st by a lap over the field. Smooth and fast. Jumps beautifully. Well pleased with the investment. My son came off the stand all smiles. Progressed all day. Cant wait for the next race. Ran the 7r eco today in race conditions with my nitro 7r setup, much better car than the 7, the eco being quiet heavy compared to the nitro 7r, I've found more noticeable of a improvement with the car in the tail happy rear, was a little tailey at first but got better and better. Very planted, awesome steering with the new 7r, fast car and same as the 7 trait, loves to be pushed and really rewards aggressive smooth driving.

Can this car hand with the nitro version in speed and handling?

Sorry new to 1/8 electric buggies have a few questions.

Best motor, esc and battery setup for large track...want to be able to keep up with the nitro buggies on the straights.
What kind of run time can I expect?
I run 1/10 electric touring car can I use two 2S 6000mah or 72000mah stick packs?
For better car balance is it better to run one or two batteries?

I believe this buggy will hang with or beat any nitro buggy out there whe driven by similar drivers.
I have the Tekin RX8/ 2050 motor combo in it. I really like this combo best.
As far as batteries, of the many batteries I have tried, there isnt any that can match the run time, power and durability of the Maxamp 6500 4 cell. Run time under hard racing will be in the 17-20 minute area. Yes they are the most expensive but you get what you pay for is what I have learned from the many I have tried. You can use two 2 cell batteries but the wires to connect the two will be hard to fit under the body.

Probably those are the batteries that he mentioned. However, 200 usd for a 4 cell batt doesnt make any sense for me. Go buy 3x smc 6500mah 4s 60c battery and pay same amount. i bet it would have same or close internal resistance compared to maxamps one.
