I do plan on racing at some point, but not right away. I want to take some time to practice and learn how to basically tear the thing apart and put it back together. I want to learn it inside and out.

So it looks like I still have a lot of things to buy, but I think I have all the tools required from my RC Heli and I already have: Digital Calipers, AfterRun Oil, Temp Gun, Glow Plug Wrench, Hex Wrenches, Loc Tite, and Grease .

I created 3 lists below... Things I 'Must Have' on hand that are used every day or that need to be upgraded right away. Things that are 'Good To Have' on hand if something breaks or is needed but certainly not an everyday thing. And lastly 'Nice to Have' things for upgrades and those things that improve performance or just give it more BLING.

Let me know what you think of the lists and if I am still missing something or if something is in the wrong list.

Must Have:

I seal all of my engines before I ever start them up - back plate and carb, just extra insurance and then I know its not leaking there. I just have to monitor the front bearing, it makes life easier.

I think your must have list is spot on. Yes a set up sheet it's free just print it out. each time you go out check your settings and mark how your buggy performed. Only make one adjustment at a time. Until you find the right setting for you. Which has nothing to do with how some else sets there's up. Engine sealant a must seal that engine with Luck 7. you only need to put it around the back plate, carb neck, pinch bolt and fuel nipple. You don't have to tear it apart to seal it.

Forget practicing in your back yard. Take it to the track you will learn waaaaaaaaaay more at the track in waaaaaayyy less time. Take it from someone who wasted allot of time so called practicing. The track and a parking lot or grassy back yard are so far apart it aint funny.

All I've added to my 2.0 rtr is some answer clutch shoes and city blocks.Also got extra arms/spindles/shafts/hex's etc. and air filters


Also gonna want to upgrade the servos

Yeah, the (2)7.2v 3600mAh battery packs are for the Starter Box that comes in the RTR package, it is actually pretty nice and the pain job matches the car... at least for now.

Adjustments I will make to list:
I will adjust the list to show Aluminum Shock Ends.
Ride Height Gauge to be moved to the Good To Have list.
Note Added to Tires - Different tires needed for different track conditions.
Clutch Shoes and Springs - Have 3 complete and different sets. WHY???
AMB Transponder moved to Must Have with note if plan on racing.
F/R Braces - Removed from list.
Gas Tank - Note to have 2 spares.
Gloves - moved to Must Have.
Simple Green - moved to Must Have.
Engine Sealant moved to Good To Have but as a Personal Preference.
Will add a note at the begining to Take Your Time Breaking in the Engine and I will add a link to "The Break in Bible" thread.

Let me know if there is anything more I need to add and/or adjust. When I am done with the list I will post a complete one... do you guys think it might be a good thing to maybe post this somewhere on the website for everyone to reference? It's good info especially for Newbies.

What about the brakes on these things... I would expect them to be a high wear item that would need more frequent replacement???

On my 1.0 RTR the brake disk's were fine until I replaced them with the Losi heavy Duty brake pads, but haven't run them yet. Check the brakes every 10 runs or so and clean them.
