Hey Mike..

I get:

1.43mm hex height

6.5mm overall

5.47mm OD of ball itself

Was going to bring up to you tonight if that will help..

I would think that would create too much grip on high traction.

did you notice an improvement with the arms cut?

was thinking of cutting the arms also...but have been holding back.

thanks
Being the first event many of us had been to with the Mi5 that had that level of grip, we were all trying different things; I opted for the super soft flexy setup and worked diligently to make it fast but to no avail.. Tim had more of a mid range setup ( full arms, yok pink and blue, mid motor) and Adams was the most stiff ( full arms, Shuie greens and some pretty thick oil, rear motor) .. the others were in between Tims and Adams. On low to mid traction, I prefer the cut arms. They actually made the car feel quite good on the high grip.. just wasn't fast through the corner..

Easiest way I've found is to use bullzip pdf printer, then print the setup pdf's as jpg's. You'll need to play with the settings a little (I think 600dpi is a good compromise between quality and size), then resize in photo manager. It's easier to compress a jpg to the file limit than a pdf to load on here.

The one here was treated that way... http://www.petitrc.com/reglages/schu...ide2013092728/

I found the source of my steering rack failure in the main. Due to the close tolerances needed for the steering rack, any noticeable play in the bearings will eventually cause the rack to pop out. Looking back, that car probably has 5000+ laps on it at my local track so it's not a big deal to need to replace them, just sucks the way that I had to find out.

The testing that concluded the issue was to move the screw fully forward and tighten without the rack in position. I then slid the rack into position upside down (the tabs won't allow it to go right side up). The fact it went in easily and even wiggled a bit showed me that something was wrong. I put new bearings on and the rack will not go in without backing off the bearing slightly.

This is in no way a defect but something that over time needs to be checked and at some point you will need to replace the bearings.

Anyone tried the mid motor conversion out doors on tarmac with rubber tyres ? if so how did it compare to the standard rear motor configuration ?

We've found the very same thing; a servo saver can help prolong the life of those bearings however, over time and use they do wear out 'radially' and the races in them get quite sloppy... can also make the car corner inconsistently if they get too bad.

PDF from Schumacher is 2.5M but here you have two lighter options: 1.5mb and under 800kb. That may help once you want to compress your filled file.

Default steering rack

Don't forget to clean the steering, around the area where the bearing sits in the groove tends to get a slight amount of debris now and then.
Qtip with motor spray does the trick.

Default Brushed motor in the Mi5 !?

Hey guys,

Just finished building my Mi5. I wanted to put in my brand new Novak GT7 (never used) and my P2K2 brushed motor (I was going old school here). The brushed motor holes won't fit the motor mount.

I was really looking forward to my vintage setup in the new car. Anyway around? If you can't think of anything, I'll just go buy a brushless one...

Thanks!

Default carpet setup

Starting setup for carpet.
Car rolls a lot but has a ton of steering.

Going try and to 450 shock oil but did try red springs, car became easy to drive when traction went up.
So far so good.

Link to setup sheet...
