Don't see an input voltage spec for the charger, but yes, some type of rechargeable battery would be your best bet. I'd personally look to something lithium based as they can withstand a deeper state...

I've seen off road carpet guys doing this. I believe the premise is they are lowering CG. Moving all that unsprung weight to sprung weight for the sake of lowering CG is a terrible idea, IMO.
