I'd wager you just toasted your motor and the ESC is fine. What about just buying a new 4600kv? Sounds like the cheapest option, at least.

7 cell hump packs will fit in most of these cars. However, you won't be able to use the stock battery straps. Personally, I've used the silicon wrist bands to hold them in with good results.

Do the TA-05's have it any better on balance? Just looking at it, I'd guess not, but if so, why? It seems the TB-03 keeps the motor's center of mass closer to the center of the car.

I won't be surprised if the 4600 is fine, especially considering that the castle motors are more tolerant of heat than most motors. The stock gearing is right around 7:1, if I remember right. I bet...

It depends a lot on what you want to do with your car. Most of the focus is on racing here which usually has pretty strict motor requirements. Often, Castle's C36 motors aren't sanctioned.
