I swapped out both diffs for new ones just recently, still seemed to have some problems so basically swapped out the entire steering, front arms and uprights.

I wish that esc was stock when I got mine, makes it a lot easier to go to a brushless upgrade vs the TEU ESC.

But yes, looking at the instructions the spur gear connects into the front diff so taking the belt would achieve what your after.
