I'm not sure about the acetone method. Never used it. But when you boil them, the tires will come off and you can re-use the rims foams or tires. Nothing's been damaged when I've done it.

Boil them. Saves the foams, don't stink up the house and works great. Use an old pot and boil them for about 20 minutes. Put on some good gloves and pull them off.
