Jet Boating

Nice! It should have some pretty good snap with that motor for sure. I like the mohawks on the helmets too, that's sweet.

Yea, it is just right on 7.4v. Kinda scale speed and not out of control fast. I accidently wired my batteries in series instead of parallel, in other words made 14.4v. That was just stupid fast! Looked like the 14.4 boat on youtube, really useless. I ended up putting a 4300mah 2 cell lipo in it. The runtimes are crazy and the little bit of extra weight actually made the boat handle better.

Nice, mine's right in that range too, not crazy on flat water, which is boring with these, but on the creeks they both have plenty of get up and go!

Yeah, even on 3S it will fail. I got about 15 minutes out of mine before the rotor exploded. You only want about 30,000-35,000rpm on the jet pump anyways, any more just makes noise and doesn't push any more water, from what I've found.

70,000+ rpm sounded really cool for a few minutes, kinda like an Indy car on water! Oh well, I knew it would fail but I had a big audience, it was worth it.
You're right, double voltage did not equal double speed. Although it would jump out of the water from a dead stop.

I've been looking at converting an old boat I have over to jet drive and then I stumbled across this thread. Wow!! Lots of great info.
Thanks guys, looks like it's time to troll Ebay for one of these old boats. Can anyone tell me if they have been sold under any other brand names than NQD?
I gather from this thread that a simple motor/esc/rx/servo change is all that's really required. Is that the case, or do I need to do more research in the other thread first?

I agree with Ty, they are worth converting! Boat, motor, ESC, and servo cost me around $100, already had a Spektum radio and recievers. As much fun as a $500 boat if you have creeks and streams to run in! Plus if you bust the hull, 40-45 bucks will get you a new complete boat.

It definitely helps cut the build cost if you've got a TX/RX already, I've seen some boat builds where people dumped $300 into it and some where people barely broke $125. All depends on what you throw into them! I know mine would be spendy if I didn't have the old R1 proto ESCs to use..
