Default Maclan Racing Products Discussion

Would like to get some discussion going on the new Maclan Racing brand. Looking forward to seeing what they come out with as far as the 1/8 line.

Yes me as well, I loved the Viper stuff. I am on board for trying out the sensored/racing ESC's when they become available. Still run the VTX10BE in two of my vehicles. Even two of the Copperheads in my backyard fun vehicles.

yeah I hope that the cool features the viper line had show up here.

maybe even some compatibility with the pro-guage.

Does the downfall of the Viper brand signify that the "give out 1,000 50% sponsorships" model doesn't work?

Anybody have the back story on the whole "replacing Viper" thing? Honestly that type of thing doesn't instill a whole lot of confidence. Not for me anyway.

They're "replacing" Viper, but they say they "don't copy other companies products". R/C people can be a fickle bunch. Company acquisitions and re branding tend to make people nervous in this industry.

I was told by a couple of local maclan drivers that it is actually 100% a brand new company... not a viper replacement brand.

I would be much more comfortable with that versos an acquisition or re-branding.

Is Viper dead? Should Viper even be a subject in this thread??

From what I can tell from the research Ive done, for all intensive purposes, Viper is no more. Im interested to see how Maclan is going to do. As for Viper products, I currently have 2 Copperhead R systems in reserve in case my Novak decides to shit the bed. I would like to see if there is any plans for a system that will give Tekin, Novak and others a run in the 4wd SCT class.

So a brand new company, just rehashing old products? What's the point? The new Maclan Diamondback esc appears to just be an extremely lightly redone Viper Copperhead esc. Can we just expect Maclan decals on the vtx10be's as "Maclan's race esc" as well?

honestly don't know.

I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt to at least see what they got coming up.

The big thing for me is if the Maclan brand is going to be based on what Viper was, I really really hope the address the issues raised with the ESCs like the power switch being unable to be replaced.

The VTX8 i really enjoyed, just a few things I wish they did different on it.

I also wouldn't be "saddened" if the proguage worked on the Maclin brand

So far though, and this is just my personal opinion, I don't like the warranty length on this line versus what Viper offered (6 months to a year). But, its at least as long as Tekin's. (120 days).

You'll learn on social media this brand is the best thing since sliced bread. At least, the 1000's of direct customers getting a sweet 25-75% will tell you this.

I also noticed all of the "viper" drivers are now...running this brand. Shocker.

Well, if it runs as good as my previous viper stuff and I can get in on the 25% to 75% deal (closer to 75% would be great), I wouldn't complain

Maclan is 100% different from that other one. To answer the question - yes - it is.
