Ive gotta say this esc is super smooth. Makes 1/8 alot easier to drive. Worth the price? To me yeah.

Anyone else have/had trouble getting Horizon to respond to e-mails? I recently bought a R8.1 and like I read earlier in this thread someone else also had it smell burnt out of the box. Well I tried it out anyway, it calibrated and programmed okay, but as soon as I put it down and the first throttle input the cloud of death came out. Now as soon as I plug it in the esc starts to smoke. Anyways I've tried multiple to contact Horizon with no response.

Why not call them or use the service form? I wouldn't email unless there was no other option.

Why would it not be legal? Can't see a reason.

Running this in a scte 3.0, orion 4000kv motor. what punch level am i cool to turn this up to? I only ask because the manual states

When using levels 7, 8 or 9, you must use high power batteries. With
low power batteries, the battery might overload and cause poor performance or unexpected results.
i'm running 2s orion 8000mah. I'm running punch at 6 but would like to increase.

What punch level is everyone using?

I run my R8.2 in 1/8 scale Buggy and truggy. Highest I have gone on punch is 3. Anything higher and I just spin the tires. Really loose conditions here in Colorado.

Only thing I don't care for on this esc is the slight hesitation when going on power. I have it on narrow dead band and punch is at 3 so it's not that. My friends do the same thing. Otherwise smooth and has great run time in ebuggy.

oddly enough, this is exactly why i was asking about punch level a few posts up. i set my punch to 6 and it mostly eliminated it.

they just did a redesign on our track, if my problem persists i'm turning punch up.

I did that and the delay was still there, all it did by turning up the punch was make it more ballistic after the delay. This delay makes me drive weird and short some jumps and it dont correct in air as quick either. My friends does the same thing, and we bought them as the same time. I called Support and they never heard of this issue, told me to get program box, which I did, and messed with other settings and profiles, and nothing changed it really. I am going to send them back to Horizon and see if they can inspect it.

David Ronnefalk are running this esc instead of the R8.1 so I think it's legal.

I just sent an esc that had some smoke come out of it to horizon to get fixed. They didn't fix it or even attempt to. Interestingly they called me and said that they didn't have any authority or training to fix or warranty any Orion products.
Anyone else have that experience?

Default Ask for Information..

Hi All,

Does anybody have any experience to replace the wire from the ESC Post?

I made a stupid mistake by cutting it too short and would like to change the wire but it seems that the solder is very very very difficult to melt. I stopped attempting again because I'm afraid of burning the PCB Board.

Please let me know if You guys have any experience with changing the wire.

Cheers..
