I just got a tlr 22-4 and decided to try out a Turnigy Trackstar 120A turbo esc and 5.5. All I can say is wow. I'm totally surprised how smooth power delivery is and how controllable (for a 5.5 turn motor) it is. Does anyone know how the drive frequency setting affects power delivery? There were a few other settings on the programmer that I didn't fully understand but I can't recall right now...
What is a safe operating temperature for the esc's? I temped mine on a couple of runs and it was around the 120 degree F mark.

same as the BH since its a v2.1 clone also. The turbo v2 is a v3.x clone and again same size as the HW v3.x
Meh, why do people insist on using 150% throttle epa, lol. set it to what ever you feel like and calibrate. after calibration if you try to increase it, you will probably impose issues. no mater what you wont go faster

lol, you cant go faster than 100% on the esc. Some people claim its smoother because there are more step from 0 to 100%. I am very sure if it made you faster, roar would be all over, but it doesnt. if it did, I would set my epa at 1%, then calibrate and then set it to 150 so I could zoom like a rocket
When I have seen people go past 100% after calibration, the normal issue is sputtering at full throttle. I have seen this with spectrum and airtronics controllers, with a few different brands of esc's
Edit: I just tried this with my viper. all that happened was, I hit max throttle at 75% trigger pull...

WildCat - thanks for the input on drive frequencies. Makes sense.

The 120a turbo is what I run in my scx-60cf with an 8.5 with no issues. Super smooth and never gets hot. Should work great in the 22sct.

My son and I run both. The 120 turbo in our SC trucks and the Gen. 2 in our buggies. Both run really smooth, the Gen II is way more tunable, more like a higher end ESC. Just a heads up, the USB adapter isn't available, I even had hobbyking try and find for me while I was on the live chat, also, the turbo and Gen II use two different programmers. One thing I have noticed with the Gen II is that it seems to run a little warm on the buggies. We don't run the fan, we run 7.5s and just a little timing, like 10* and no "boost". It's hit 160 on an. 8 minute run. I reemed a square of a bunch of holes right above the ESC and the temp dropped to around 139. I may need to run the fan but it seems like the hot air gets trapped in the buggy body unlike the SC where air flows all the time. Oh and one other minor thing with Gen II, the power switch is built in so tight installs will make it difficult to turn on and off, ie a TLR 22 in MM.

I recently got the Turnigy Trackstar 150A GenII 1/8th Scale Sensored Brushless Car ESC for my 1/8 scale buggy. It had been working amazingly till a couple of weeks ago. While running the car car shuts down completely for no reason. Everything is connected correctly, all the wires are connected without any breaks. I've had it happen 2 times and can't figure out why. Anyone else have an experience like this?
