I tend to do my own research, and am old enough I don't have to ask anybody permission to make a long distance phone call.

And, since you've missed the memo (haven't been keeping up with these threads, or even read this one), MyLaps has also openly admitted that the AMB handout transponders and the original AMB PTs are going to be the first one of their products "phased out" and have currently stopped offering support or repair services for these products.

I would buy the latest MyLaps/AMB transponder. I'd rather be ahead of the technology behind it.

That may not be the popular opinion, but that's how I'd do it.

What is a regular one??

I only know of two, the rc4 hybrid (two wire), & the rc4 purcy (three wire)

The hybrid will work on rc, rc3 & rc4 systems.

The purcy will only work on the rc4 systems,... but gives you the option to pick your own number & order more with the same number... with car/class identification.
