Default My Latest

I Lifted the basic scheme from a magazine and made a few changes to suit my style. This is my 3rd attempt and the first time I tried using Liquid Mask. I really like the Liquid Mask. Its SO much easier than masking tape, and the results were better too.

hey harris, real nice job. all r/c's bodies i have painted have been rattle can and just the last two years got into using liquid mask in conjunction with spray can. i know how much time you have into that. love how you highlighted the shock area too bad we cant find any good internal stickers or even names. would look even tricker with a little "king" sticker on the bypass. i guess thats where id be nice to have a good airbrush if i only had the talent to use it. lol

Default Thanks guys......

Yeah,,,,I DID put a lot of time into that......Money too,,,Lol.....

If I add it up, it comes to $30 body, Liquid Mask $9, and 3 cans of Paint at $7 a can. Thats over $60 for a body that I will Destroy in a season (if I'm Lucky) of racing.

I enjoyed the Process though, and I like the fact that I did it Myself
I WILL keep on painting, but I am beginning to Really Appreciate the Effort that it must take for some of the really Nice bodies that I have seen......

P.S. I better get an airbrush though,,,,, or I will go Broke buying cans of paint

My CRT.5... Pactra metallic blue, flo.yellow. Used some great planes red vinyl airplane trim as tape, worked well and only cost $3.50 or so. I used it as a guide around the edge of window masks to guide the exacto blade. The window lines are clean enough, but there to thick. The great planes tape was that width.

I also sprayed a little indy silver on the yellow part first, tried to give it a little metallic look, turned out ok, probably over did it a little.

Default 3x Slash

Thanks Cement Surfer.

To be honest, these cars look way better, more realistic than the airbrush post which is HUGE!
Lots of very original people let loose.
How on earth do you make that marble effect with spraycans
will have to look that up, seems to have been sweeped with a cloth or so.

I love red, that will be up next.
A Ducati like red and fluo yellow 46 Rossi machine.

Here are my 3 slash body's i did so far.
All "LRP" rattle can.
Seems that with cans u need a rather big surface to make gradients.
Not easy and i can see dots or spickles how u call it, if u look closely.
Since my friend also wanted same green there are two green ones.
Sorry bout that .

Overal i think it worked out nicely.

ps: Check out 94EG's post on page 49

That last Dyna Storm buggy has the coolets Rims i ever saw on a buggy. Waw
Is that tamiya plastic?

Cheers.

What color gray is that on the backend of your truck? I personally really like the "clean and simple" look on the short course trucks!

Ive done many, but this is probably one of my best......the checkers, gree/yellow fade, and the black are all paint. The hood decal was from a magazine, and I used a motocross MOnster decal kit... PS.. I totally regret selling this car......If I could Id buy it back

I threw this one together in a few hours at work It's a new paintscheme for me, hope it brings me goodluck

Will have to try some liquid mask and an airbrush one day, not sure if I can be bothered cleaning everything after though??
