U.S. Vintage Trans-Am [PICS & PAINT Discussion ONLY!!!]

The funniest part about this driver head discussion (and ya, I saw your post Myron, ha!) is that I swiped that Rugrat baby ("Tommy" is his name) from my daughter so that I'd have something down at the Southern Nationals to be legal. Our track doesn't require driver figures. He has now been returned safe and sound to her but with a diaper load due to my way of racing, LOL!
I 100% get the scale driver thing. But, my goal in this case wasn't to be scale, I just wanted to have a driver that fit the rules. And, I wanted something funny and memorable. There are some GREAT heads out there if you just look. Kid's shampoo bottles are an excellent source too (See Scooby Doo). I flew RC airplanes for years before getting into racing, so I've been collecting pilot heads for a long time. But, most that I have are too big for cars. Tommy was just the right scale.
The best head I've ever gotten (wait, that sounds bad!) was this Extreme Pilot figure from Sullivan Products which has been in a Slash we have for about 4 years. I get so many comments on him, because he's absolutely perfect in that truck! The scale is off for VTA or I would be using one like it in my car now. Unfortunately, they aren't made anymore, but you can still find them at some hobby shops.

I thought I would try the McAllister Mustang body. It didn't tun out too bad. It is all paint.

We had a concourse contest last night and had a great turn out. Had to put a new spin on my Mountain Dew body.
Here is the field
Here are a few cars that I did masks and numbers for. The Mello Yello, the "Flag" car
The Black Mustang is all paint masks from me.
The Black Camaro an Blue Camaro both had stickers from me.

OK, so since I had to give my Rug Rats driver back to my daughter, I swiped this gem out of the Halloween stuff. Mounted it on a body post with a little goo and a screw down from the top also. Its mounted firmly.
I guess he's "scale" if you allow dead drivers. The orange eyes I used a paper punch on some neon orange sticker sheet to make the dots.
Ran him last night in the orange 69 Camaro at Indy RC Raceway. We had a great turnout of VTA!
