Good looking track. I would run a pinion/spur ratio of @4.6 to start with there on a 23t motor based on the pic.

What have you been gearing at?

Default ratio

Normally i used 3.7 and 3.9. on 19t motor. the car run kinda slow and no pickups , and the motor will get hot within 4 laps.

i will try your 4.6 on my new stock motor.

What if the ratio below 2.0 will it melt my wires and all ?

kreator your geared to low if you flat and the motor is hot after 4 laps you need to try the gearing like 2 to 3 teeth smaller on the pinion!

Default Need some suggestions on equipment.

Can anyone suggest what 10X1 mod I should run in my 1/10 pan car. I've noticed that the Trinity D5 has gotten a lot of praise, but I'm not sure how it will perform in a 1/10 pan car. I'm also considering a mod motor from Reedy, but I can't decide on which one. We will be running a 4 cell, 10X1 mod motor class. Also what kind of batteries should I invest in when I pick a motor. I understand that the 3300's have great run time, but there not as punchy as 2400's nicads. I think we will be racing 5min, 8min max.
I also need some suggestions on tires. I will be running on indoor carpet, with a decent layout, good straights and tight corners. I'm leaning towards TRC purple fronts and magenta rear.
Finally, where can I get a 1/10 GTP body. Do they even make these anymore for 1/10 pan cars anymore?

I never have run mod, so I can't help much.

I am sure the only batteries to get are the GP 3300s. They are cheap and the only way you will make 8 minutes.

Tower Hobbies has GTP bodies, what car are you running? 200mm or 235?

Have Fun

4.6 maybe too quick for that bumpy track if the roll out diameter is 60mm above.

With 4-cells you loose a lot of punch so, as much as I otherwise love and recommend the motor, I wouldn't go with the Reedy Kr. I personally don't like any of the Trinity mods. and I question the efficiency of the large brush system (too much drag on the com kills runtime). That being said, I don't think you could go wrong with Reedy's own torque-oriented motor, the Ti, provided you can still find one.

For bodies, if you're looking for 200mm, this one is an example:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCSN9&P=7 as is the BL2217 body from Bolink: http://www.bolink.com/new.html .

For 235mm, there are the three main ones we run:
For lowish downforce, the Protoform Peugeot: https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...pl?pn=PFM1407L
For mediumish downforce, the Hot Bodies Toyota: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXK897&P=7
For a more downforce but high drag, the AE Nissan: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LX2711&P=7
There are plenty of them made, you just need to know where to look .

If you wanted to get creative, there are others such as those from Dahms http://www.dahms-intl.com/dah3.html but I would recommend one of those three to start with.

For tires for carpet, I would start with pink fronts and green or white rears and then work harder from there if traction dictates. On four cells, your car will not have the weight to push down very much to provide contact pressure on the wide 1/10th tires so you need to be a bit softer than you might otherwise think.

For batteries, there’s no way you’ll get anywhere near runtime on anything other than 3300’s. 3000’s maybe but those are hard to find anyway.

I, personally, like the Dahm's bodies. They're good, fairly thick lexan so they last a long time and they don't look like everyone else! The Hot Bodies and Protoforms all look the same, to me. My avatar is a Dahm's.

If you do, make sure to get the Lowla Long Tail - I found out, by experience, that the Short Tail does not have enough rear down force without the addition of a wing. While it was fun pirouhetting down the straightaway, it just wasn't very fast. . .

Default asso 2.5

I've tested the thrre shock car today. Feels good. Not faster, but better adjustable. That's very important, because I run at 6 different tracks for the Inter Club Competition!

Also tested tire warmers today. That's what I call grip! Higher cornering speed, little more drag on the straights. More wear on the tires.

Thanks to all that responded so quickly, I'm begging to think that 4 cell 10X1 mod is an unrealistic class. I think everyone has agreed to the 10X1 mod for a motor. Perhaps it would be best to change to 6 cell 3300's?

To be honest it would probably then be too fast for most indoor racks. I think 6-cell stock would be the way to go for you guys. It’s “punchier” than 4-cell mod and lap times should be just slightly faster.

Of course, if everyone’s already agreed on a motor limit, then it’s the same deal for everyone regardless of how it works out.

4-cell with 10x1 won't be a slow class if thats what your worrired about. If you guys run 6-cell you are going to wear everything out a lot quicker. Just something to consider.

Dont worry about the drop in punch going from 2400 to 3300, I dont hardly notice it, But in running 3300 you can move that timing ring up and up, which you will notice ALOT more difference in.
