Do you not use a cooling head during break-in to help keep heat in?

Of course ! I was just showing the product on a engine I had sitting there that just didn't happen to have its head fastened down

I think he is under the impression that you leave the head off, to keep the engine from cooling from the prop wash. His question could be interpreted either way.
If I'm wrong, disregard this!

I usually run a cooling head with a comp heater blocking the prop wash... I have never tried it without a cooling head and its possibly it may work on the initial rich part of the breakin...but i think once the engine is at full power against the prop it will need some extra cooling

Hey Maximo, how does the new LRP compare to the new speed spec III?

How do I get these videos to embed properly into the forum ? used to work liker a charm, now it seems nothing wants to work
#1 COPY AND PASTE THE YOUTUBE LINK

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIpyYRMJ1eI

#2 DELETE EVERYTHING HIGHLETED IN RED - FROM "HTTP://" TO "="
OR YOU CAN JUST COPY THE STUFF IN BLACK FROM THE YOUTUBE LINK.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIpyYRMJ1eI

#3 YOU WILL BE LEFT WITH JUST THE SYMBOLS AFTER "=" SIGN

fIpyYRMJ1eI

#4 COPY THE REMAINING CHARACTERS, HIT THE YOUTUBE ICON, and PASTE THEM BETWEEN THE TWO CENTER BRACKETS IN THE TWO YOUTUBE BITS OF TEXT THAT APPEAR.

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

from what I seen they were mechanically no different then a standard OS Speed other then the blue head.....So either a 2060 or 2090 will do........

Uhm. No. they are a 4 port Nova based engine. I like the 9901 pipe with the 21 header.

depends what you want

for mild smooth power use a 41021 manifold with a 9901..if you want more kick and RPM use a 41001 with a 9901... and if you want even more then swap to either a 9853 or a 9886...The bigger the insert the better the performance, however on a smaller track a small insert can help give better trigger response where a bigger insert may get a little soggy.... However on a bigger track where you can keep the engine cleared out the bigger insert will have a noticeable power and RPM advantage...Manifold is your # 1 tuning tool to tailor the powerband, pipe is secondary, and insert size is determined by track size and layout...

I always thought pipe then manifold then insert. I never knew the manifold made such a difference, even more than the pipe. Amazing! Thanks again for the info.

Another option to consider is the Ultimate 2123 pipe (and corresponding manifold) that Modelix developed specifically for the M4R.
