Default Novarossi Sturm

I have an old 1/10 scale chassis and what not laying around and was wanting to get it running but just need a new engine for it. I was looking at the Novarossi Sturm and that seemed pretty good for $140AUD. Just wondering if anyone has used this in their 1/10 scales and if it was any good for speed and what not,
Thanks.

It is no winner in an open class but for sure it is no slow engine. The laptimes will be some tenths slower compared with the triple that expensive engines.

Any engine you can recommend, can spend up to $250AUD and is for a 1/10 on road,
Thanks.

With some searching you will find older NR models like the 353 and the Flash for a good price.

After a quick search, both of those engines seem to be in the $400 range.

On low grip Club races it's not the Stürm engine letting me down but I must say for any Event my Virtus is in the car. For the price I'm really happy with the power and speed of the Sturm and recommended it to anyone as a practice/club racing engine. Not only is it cheap but the power is easier to drive on low grip, there's noticeably less wear on the drive train and the tune window is good. The Nova ISON is around $250 from memory and Specs say it should be faster but I've never tried one.

These engines are within your budget, and will run with nearly anything.

Default Rex Legend

Hi

Great value buy at the moment is the REX Legend (Novarossi) from REX Australia.

I believe they are based on the Keep-On from Novarossi from a few years ago

Thanks everyone for your recommendations, I think I will go with the Sturm still since everyone seems to say it is well worth the price and I am not really going for high speeds.

Good choice, it's an awesome engine.

Compared to the tuned engines it misses a little bottom end power, top end is really good. Nice thing is that it makes the power delivery quite linear, this makes the car easier to drive which will result in better consistency.
The money saved on the engine can be spent on tires and keeping the car in perfect condition, this is what gives better laptimes.

I'm convinced the Sturm engine makes more than enough power for 90% of the drivers.
