question is....how???

get a 12v automotive light bulb rated at ~ 1.0 amp. Wire the bulb up to a spare connector and hook the pack up and leave it on till just before the light goes out. It takes quite a while, but you don't want to overheat the pack discharging it a a high rate.

Why you want to discharge a ni-mh pack ? ...

Im using ni-mh packs on my TX (1500mah) and my rx (1800mah) for about 2 and half years now and NEVER cycled them ... and no one single issue with batteries so far ...

Also, is it true that Nicd chargers can charge Nimh batteries?

U`ve been using Nimh batteries and never had to discharge them? cool!

Even if u`ve only used let`s say, 1 - 2 hours of practice, do u still just charge them after?

Nimh batteries don't need to be cycled like nicad ones do.

I just use a fast charger (http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByC...?ProdID=HAN114) every weekend ... if i practice just a couple of hours i pack everything, go home and dont open my stuff until next week ... that for my cars and planes ...

I like to discharge mine now before a race and fully charge it so I know I got max juice in it.

Just like they said get an 1157 (I think thats the number) automotive dual filament bulb. You can get them at wal-mart or anywhere automotive for $2 dollars or less.

I then got some alligator clips. I already made an adapter for my packs. I used some speaker wire terminals. Then I just clamp on the clips and discharge it while its on the vehicle like I charge it.

You can find this tip somewhere in rcnitro or rccaraction. Just dont let the bulb dim.

Can Nimh batteries be charged with a Nicd charger?

cause that`s what i`m doing now from the tip of my lhs owner whom i suspect might just wanna rip me off as i was desperatly looking for a budget slow charger.

am worried about it.

I would like 99% you cannot use Nicd charger to charge Nimh, like using 93 octane gasoline on your Nitro RC car....nothing is good will happen.

A Ok nimh/nicd charger like this MRC Super Brain 959 Charger is around $45, can charge both mostly use batteries, with a lot of other function, and if you cannot even want to spend $45 for a OK charger, RC is really not for you.

On the original note, I too, used my Tx and Rx for 2 plus year now.......never cycle or discharge charge or whatever to peak my packs.......those are for RADIO use, I don't use those batteries to power my NITRO car.......as long as I see full 10.2V and 6.8V, I am happy.............and I don't discharge them before charging, Nimh suppose has no memory problem like Nicd.

You can charge NIMH batteries with a trickle or wall type charger no problem. You can get one with leads to charge both your radio and receiver batteries at the same time. As long as you radio has a charging plug built into it. I got mine for $13 or so. Just plug everything in the night before you run and you won't have any problems. If you need a fast charge though, you are going to need somthing like the MRC that Rookie recommended.

Nimh batteries will perform better with some occasional maintenance. I know one article is for GP3300's, but the other is for micro cars which use the same battery packs we use for receiver packs.

I will invest in a good proper charger. but not now as my budget is tight.
